Jason Statham fans, your queue just got nastier: Wrath of Man, his underrated 2021 revenge-heist thriller, storms onto Netflix today.

Netflix just dropped a new Jason Statham brawler, and if you like your action ice-cold and a little mean, this one hits the spot.

What arrived today

Wrath of Man, the 2021 action thriller from director Guy Ritchie, is now streaming on Netflix. It stars Statham as a mysterious armored-truck driver known only as 'H' who shuts down a robbery in Los Angeles with suspiciously surgical efficiency. From there, the movie rewinds and crisscrosses timelines to unpack who this guy really is, why he is so capable, and how a looming heist ties it all together.

The movie, in a nutshell

Wrath of Man is loosely adapted from the 2004 French film Cash Truck, directed by Nicolas Boukhrief. Ritchie keeps the premise but leans darker and more ruthless than his usual swagger-heavy crime capers. It was a solid win at the box office, pulling in over $100 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, even if critics were mixed on it. Personally, it plays like one of Statham and Ritchie’s more underrated team-ups: lean, grim, and very watchable.

Who is in it

  • Jason Statham as 'H'
  • Holt McCallany
  • Jeffrey Donovan
  • Josh Hartnett
  • Laz Alonso
  • Raul Castillo
  • DeObia Oparei
  • Eddie Marsan
  • Scott Eastwood

Where it sits in the Statham/Ritchie saga

This was their fourth collaboration at the time, following Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and Revolver. They’ve since teamed up again on Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, and there is reportedly a sixth project, Viva La Madness, in the works.

If you missed Wrath of Man in theaters or just want a tight, nasty little revenge heist to throw on tonight, it is sitting on Netflix right now.
