Jason Momoa Hypes Timothee Chalamet’s Next-Level Performance in Dune 3
Duncan Idaho actor throws his star power behind his Dune co-star, sparking buzz across Hollywood.
So, just when you thought Dune fever might dial down a notch, here comes another one. Yeah, Dune 3 is real – it wrapped filming last November – and the hype is already getting pretty wild, mostly thanks to Jason Momoa, who honestly might be the best hype man in Hollywood. If you thought Timothée Chalamet peaking with his Oscar nom for Marty Supreme was a big deal, Momoa is here to tell you: nah, the best is still coming.
Momoa Will Not Calm Down About This Performance
Momoa, who’s managed to turn 'guy-who-definitely-died-in-the-first-movie' into a regular franchise gig, got chatty with Flip Your Wig and didn’t mince words about Chalamet in Dune 3:
"Wait until you see him in Dune 3. Maybe some of the best stuff I've seen him do – ever. I'm serious. Tape this interview, write this shit down, I don't give a fuck."
Alright then. For those keeping score, Duncan Idaho – Momoa’s character – bit it in the first movie, showed up again in part two (because, Dune), and is apparently still hanging around for the third one. Sometimes, dying is just a suggestion, I guess.
What’s Up With Chalamet’s Paul This Time?
Chalamet himself has been dropping some clues, most recently to GamesRadar+. He says this round, he’ll be 'playing older' and will show off a 'someone who's been impacted by years of leadership and carries that weight' energy. Translation: grimmer, probably angrier Paul Atreides incoming.
He admits he can’t say too much, but one thing that’s clear: Denis Villeneuve (still directing, still a perfectionist) knows Dune 3 is a tough nut to crack. Apparently, Villeneuve and Chalamet had plenty of deep-dive conversations about how to pull it off, but Chalamet gives the credit to Denis’s approach – it's Villeneuve’s creative baby all the way.
Who Else Is Boarding the Ornithopter This Time?
Besides Chalamet and Momoa, the cast is stacked – Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, Josh Brolin, and Rebecca Ferguson are all onboard. So basically, if you’ve had a moment in the last five years, you’re probably in this movie.
Release Date Mayhem: 'Dunesday'?
Move over, Barbenheimer – December 18, 2026 is now set up for a potentially embarrassing box office collision course. Dune 3 and Avengers: Doomsday are both dropping on the same day thanks to some studio chest-thumping, prompting Robert Downey Jr. (who’s playing Doctor Doom in Avengers) to brand that day 'Dunesday.' Not subtle, but hard to forget.
- Dune 3 wrapped filming: November 2025
- Cast: Timothée Chalamet, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson
- Director: Denis Villeneuve
- Source material: Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah
- US release date: December 18, 2026 (vs. Avengers: Doomsday)
So buckle up. We’ve got a Dune wave coming (again), a wild cast list, and more debate about sand than any reasonable person could have predicted three years ago. Whether the third time’s the charm or just a lot more blue eyes and spice dreams remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: Chalamet’s dance card in the desert isn’t full yet.
