James Gunn just tackled Peacemaker’s hottest fan theory head-on: is Emilia Harcourt actually Peacewrecker? Weighing in on The Morning After Pod, he fanned the flames with an answer fans won’t stop dissecting.

Fans have been trying to manifest Emilia Harcourt suiting up as Peacewrecker on Peacemaker. James Gunn just put a pin in that. On The Morning After Pod: Phase Hero's Peacemaker Podcast, he was asked about it point-blank and basically said: not happening, at least not with who Harcourt is right now.

So, is Harcourt becoming Peacewrecker?

Brandon Davis asked Gunn if Jennifer Holland's Harcourt could become 'Peacewrecker outright.' Gunn's answer leaned hard toward no, and he brought receipts from the show itself. Remember earlier this season when Harcourt called the idea of suiting up 'stupid'? Gunn does too.

'I think you would have a very hard time ever getting Emilia to wear a costume... She would have to be a different person.'

Why the costume talk actually matters

This is a very Gunn answer: in his DC Universe, characters wear costumes for a reason. Superman and the other classic heroes have clear narrative motivations. Meanwhile, someone like Judo Master keeps rocking a costume without much explanation, which reads more as eccentricity than purpose. Harcourt, as Gunn frames it, just is not that kind of character. The show even tossed out 'Peacewrecker' as a gag, not a roadmap.

Where Season 2 is taking Harcourt instead

Gunn emphasized that Harcourt's story this season is about her head and her heart, not her wardrobe. He pointed to Episode 6 and that heavy scene with John Cena's Peacemaker: Harcourt is so convinced she is not worth much that she thinks she is doing him a favor by keeping her distance. Her arc is about accepting love and believing she deserves it. That is a lot more interesting than strapping on body armor just because the internet made a cool nickname.

  • The conversation happened on The Morning After Pod: Phase Hero's Peacemaker Podcast.
  • Brandon Davis asked if Jennifer Holland's Emilia Harcourt might become Peacewrecker outright.
  • Gunn said getting Harcourt into a costume would be a tough sell and she would have to be a different person.
  • In Gunn's DCU, heroes need a story-driven reason to suit up; he contrasted Superman's purpose with Judo Master's eccentricity.
  • The 'Peacewrecker' tag was a joke in the show, not a plan.
  • Season 2 focuses on Harcourt's vulnerability and self-worth (highlighted in Episode 6 with Cena), not an alter ego.
  • Bottom line: current DCU plans make that Peacewrecker transformation unlikely.

So if you were waiting for a Harcourt suit-up montage, do not hold your breath. The show is using her for something more grounded, and honestly, that is the better play.
