James Gunn just confirmed a Superman star is headed back to Peacemaker, stoking hype for the next big DCU crossover.

James Gunn may need to write himself a spoiler citation. On the Superman director commentary track (now out digitally), he casually connected the dots between that movie and the Peacemaker season 2 finale. And by casually, I mean he described exactly how they hopped from one production to the other on the same set, which is about as inside baseball as it gets.

What Gunn let slip

  • They reused a Superman set for Peacemaker: after shooting a scene for Superman on a shadowy roundtable set packed with government heavyweights debating the Superman threat, Gunn says they came back the very next Saturday to film part of Peacemaker season 2, episode 8 on that same stage.
  • The Peacemaker scene featured James Hiroyuki Liao as Mori and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, plus a few unannounced faces Gunn refused to name.
  • Those power-broker types from the Superman roundtable are not one-and-done; Gunn hinted they will be back and left the door open for more surprises.
  • Gunn has already said he did not send the Peacemaker finale to critics because it is packed with spoilers. Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt) backed that up, teasing that the final three episodes ripple out into the wider DCU.
  • Peacemaker season 2 is rolling out weekly.

"The Saturday after we did [this Superman scene], we shot a scene from Peacemaker [season 2] episode 8, because it had a lot of the same cast from Superman.

It had James [Hiroyuki Liao] as Mori and Frank [Grillo] as Rick Flag, and then a couple of other people. I think this will have already aired when this director's commentary comes out, but I'm not sure actually - I'll leave the secrets there."

If you are reading between the lines: those unnamed guests could be big ones. Superman and Lex Luthor would be the headline arrivals here, especially with a Man of Tomorrow follow-up movie in the works. Not confirmed, but the way Gunn framed it sure sounds like he knows exactly what he is doing.

Also worth noting: the whole roundtable setup in Superman — a bunch of cabinet-level types whispering about how to handle an alien in a cape — is clearly more than flavor text now. Gunn straight up folded that environment into Peacemaker to keep continuity tight and, let’s be honest, to make the cameos logistically easy when half your cast is already on the lot.

Bottom line: Gunn connected Superman and Peacemaker season 2’s endgame right out in the open on a commentary track. If you are spoiler-averse, maybe avoid his behind-the-scenes tracks until after the finale lands. If you like the breadcrumb trail, he just dumped a whole bag on the table.
