Jacob Elordi’s Acclaimed 2023 Biopic Drops on Netflix
Netflix is bolstering its holiday slate with Priscilla, the acclaimed 2023 biopic starring Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla Presley alongside Jacob Elordi, arriving on the platform this season.
Netflix is starting 2026 by dropping Sofia Coppola's 'Priscilla' on day one. If you missed it in theaters or have been waiting for it to hit a big streamer, the wait is over. Well, almost. Yes, this is one of those long, mysterious licensing timelines.
When it hits and where it came from
'Priscilla' lands on Netflix on January 1, 2026, per What's on Netflix. The film premiered at the 80th Venice Film Festival in September 2023, then rolled out in theaters that November. Coppola directs, adapting Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir 'Elvis and Me' and zeroing in on her perspective and the messy, complicated marriage to Elvis Presley.
Who is playing who, and how it was received
Cailee Spaeny plays Priscilla Presley; Jacob Elordi plays Elvis. Spaeny won Venice's Volpi Cup for Best Actress after the film's premiere and later picked up a Golden Globe nomination for the role. In a 2022 Vogue interview, Coppola said Priscilla Presley served as an executive producer on the movie.
The family reactions were not all aligned
In the lead-up to release, Variety reported that Lisa Marie Presley was unhappy with how her father was portrayed. The outlet said it reviewed two emails she sent to Coppola voicing those concerns. That behind-the-scenes friction was a real thing around the time the film came out.
What else Netflix is bundling with it
Alongside 'Priscilla' on January 1, Netflix is also adding a few high-profile studio titles and rolling out some of its own big swings later in the month.
- January 1, 2026: 12 Years a Slave, Ford v Ferrari, Pitch Perfect 2, Man on Fire, and Priscilla
- January 29, 2026: Bridgerton Season 4: Part 1
So, if you're mapping out early 2026 viewing: start New Year's Day with Coppola's take on Priscilla and Elvis, then circle back for the next round of 'Bridgerton' by the end of the month.
