Handcuffed to his girlfriend on a livestream, YouTuber Jack Doherty barged in as Uruguay star Darwin Núñez posed with fans. The flex backfired spectacularly.

Jack Doherty tried to turn a random run-in into content and ended up getting stonewalled by a world-class athlete. The clip is short, awkward, and yes, kind of satisfying if you have a low tolerance for clout chasing.

The clip: handcuffs, a flex, and a hard ignore

Doherty was handcuffed to his girlfriend for a livestream challenge when he spotted a guy taking photos with a couple fans. Not realizing it was Uruguayan footballer Darwin Nunez, he rolled up with a little swagger.

"Who is this guy? Hey, let me get one, too. No, I'm kidding."

He raised his hand and tried the polite route with an "Excuse me, sir," but Nunez kept walking. No pause, no glance, nothing. Doherty then turned to his chat to crowdsource the mystery man's identity, asking who he was and pointing out the two watches on his wrist. A beat later: realization that he had just tried to troll a famous soccer player.

Whether Nunez actually heard Doherty is unclear in the video, but the non-reaction played great online. A lot of viewers praised Nunez for giving the stunt zero oxygen.

Quick background on Doherty

If you somehow missed the last few years of YouTube chaos: Doherty has been doing controversy-friendly pranks and stunts since 2016 and has built a massive channel with more than 15 million subscribers. Plenty of those bits have gone sideways on camera. He livestreams a lot, pushes the envelope a lot, and has even been banned from the Kick platform.

The legal trouble that followed

Separate from the Nunez moment, Doherty was arrested in Miami on November 15. According to the New York Post, he was booked into Miami-Dade County jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and resisting arrest. The report says he argued with officials and was scolded by an officer during the encounter. Hours before the arrest, he had been livestreaming a yacht party on a platform called Parti.

As for Nunez, he is a Uruguayan international currently known for his time with Liverpool, and he handled the situation by doing nothing at all. Sometimes that really is the move.
