Fresh off promoting Anaconda and in the thick of another Jumanji shoot, Jack Black is already eyeing his next challenge — the one movie genre he still hasn’t conquered.

Jack Black is doing the most Jack Black thing possible: promoting one movie, filming another, and already spitballing the next one. On the red carpet for Anaconda, he hinted at the last genre he still wants to cross off his list.

"God damn it, I think I've done it all. Maybe a musical, I don't know. I don't know, I don't know what's next. I don't know what the future holds."

Where he is right now

Black told reporters he actually likes the red carpet grind when he believes in the work (via ETOnline). And he seems all-in on this run of projects.

  • Anaconda (Dec 25, 2025): This is a horror-comedy reboot with a very meta setup: Jack Black and Paul Rudd play guys trekking into the Amazon to shoot a low-budget remake... and then things get actually dangerous. He has been raving about the script and the team, telling The Hollywood Reporter he signed on because he loved the director's last movie and, with Rudd attached, it felt like a layup. In his words to his agent, it was basically: just say yes.
  • New Jumanji: He is also back in the jungle with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and the rest of the crew. He joked that the cast is basically an extended family at this point, and says the new script is, in his view, the best one yet.
  • Maybe a musical next: He did not commit to anything, but when pressed on what genre he has not tackled, he pointed at a musical. Given his long history of mixing comedy and music, that tracks.

Quick takeaway

Between a Christmas Day horror-comedy, another Jumanji, and the idea of finally doing a full-on musical, Black is clearly in the 'say yes to what feels fun' era. Honestly, that might be his sweet spot.
