We were all devastated by the unexpected news that season 4 of Succession would be the last.

Of course, ending the series now can only benefit it by providing a logical and clever conclusion and not becoming another long-running, boring show. But isn't there more behind the sudden end?

As we know, the actors are just as upset as the fans. Not long ago, Nicholas Braun, who portrayed Cousin Greg, shared his bittersweet feelings about the news. But this time, Sarah Snook, who played the role of Shiv Roy, also spoke out. And there is much to speculate about what went on behind the scenes.

LA Times spoke with Snook. According to the actress, she did not officially learn of the show's end until the final table was read in January, although some aspects hinted at it. This decision was unexpected and shocking to the actors, who had hoped the show would last at least one more season.

"It would have been nice to know at the beginning of the season, but I also understand not being told until the end because there was still a potential that maybe this wasn't going to be the end," Sarah Snook says.

It was this moment that made fans wonder. Sure, it may just be speculation, but it looks like the creators are glossing over something.

"Just seems very last minute to me, like there was a lot of rewrites," Reddit user Random_Throwaway2283 reflects.

Such a sudden decision seems a bit odd considering how painful it must have been for the actors. In addition, the ending may turn out to be quite polarizing, as the rapid development of events will clearly leave fans wondering about what happened.

But as many viewers have noted, it is still a satirical tragicomedy that mocks the privileged white men in whose hands enormous wealth is concentrated. So, despite our affection, none of them deserve a perfectly happy ending.

Cynical as it may sound, the tragic end of one of the siblings or the sudden death of the Roy family patriarch, leaving his children with nothing, would not spoil the finale. After all, if the show had gone on for many more seasons, sooner or later it would have become a caricature of the very idea it was ironizing.
