Is Season 3 the End of Ted Lasso? Hannah Waddingham Thinks Not
The show hasn't yet overstayed its welcome.
Ted Lasso has had a wonderful run since 2020, inoculating viewers with positivity and helping us cope with the gloom of the COVID-19 pandemic and other crises.
Consequently, it has a special place in every fan's heart, and people are unwilling to let go of their beloved characters even after the show has seemingly come to an end with its third season.
The series' creator and actor behind the titular character, Jason Sudeikis said a number of times that Ted Lasso was always planned as a three-season show, even before the filming started back in 2020. However, it seems that not every cast member agrees with him.
In a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Hannah Waddingham, who portrayed Rebecca Welton on Ted Lasso, shared her thoughts about the show's potential continuation. When asked if Season 3 was 'the end-end,' Hannah once again cited Sudeikis' words about Ted Lasso being a three-season story, but the actress herself apparently has a different stance on the issue.
'I feel like trapping him [Jason Sudeikis] in a dungeon with a notepad and a pen and just going "Dude, what are you doing?!"' Hannah quipped.
According to the actress, Ted Lasso's characters are so loved by the audience and cast members themselves that it would be a disgrace to let them disappear now, at the peak of the show's popularity. It looks like Waddingham has developed a deep connection with her character, Rebecca, and she would be willing to play her again should the opportunity arise.
'I would play her when her teeth are falling out in a retirement home,' the actress admitted. 'I just want to see her through.'
In fact, Hannah Waddingham may be lucky enough to reprise her role, as Jason Sudeikis has apparently changed his mind on finishing the show after just three seasons and is now considering the possibility of spinning Ted Lasso into several more series. It's quite possible that the new shows will be centered around the supporting characters, and Rebecca is reportedly Sudeikis' absolute favorite among other candidates for their own spin-off.
Fingers crossed we'll get to see a continuation of Ted Lasso in one form or another — because those stories were an absolute joy to follow!
