Is Rupert the Invincible Villain of Ted Lasso Season 3? Fan Theory Suggests So

Read on Scorpiolikeyou
Rupert Mannion has been Ted Lasso’s main antagonist since the beginning of the series.

He used to be the owner of AFC Richmond but lost it to his ex-wife Rebecca Welton during their divorce. But he never gave up and proceeded to annoy Rebecca by every possible means at his disposal. No wonder the fans labeled him as the villain of the series.

Rupert attempted to get back at Rebecca many times, but as season three is Ted Lasso’s last one, it's likely that Mannion's malicious behavior will come to a head. The man has yet been unstoppable. And a fan theory suggests he remains undefeated.

There’s nothing special about Rupert. He is an old rich British man, pretty charming and aware of it, which he frequently uses to get whatever he wants. And everybody around him chooses to turn a blind eye on his obnoxious behavior for a reason, despite knowing for sure what kind of person he is and what he has done before. As the story unfolds, Mannion is simply forgiven for his misdemeanors.

Due to its life-affirming nature, Ted Lasso is not going to see Rupert crushed in retaliation for his previous hurtful actions, the show’s fans think.

Rebecca who has all the rights to hold grudges against her ex-husband will simply accept him as he is and learn how to live with that, giving up her desire to come victorious out of their long-lasting and media-involving squabble.

That being said, Rupert will be forgiven once again for what rubbish of a person he is and will walk out of the conflict with Rebecca unpunished.

He will probably still be delusional about his own grandeur thinking that he has outsmarted everybody around him while not realizing that people see through him clearly and take advantage of him just as easily.

What’s more, Mannion will think he’s defeated Rebecca.

And as she won’t be interested in continuing their rivalry and move on, Rupert will deem himself the winner. Ted Lasso’s fans even think that his invincibility may be cemented by his new club, West Ham United, prevailing over AFC Richmond at the tournament. Rebecca will be fine with it, so he’ll win their PR battle as well.

Don’t you worry! Ted Lasso is a series about finding positive aspects of life. Everybody, except Rupert, will find their peace and move on leaving the undefeated villain behind.
