Is Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man About to Swing Into Doomsday?

Andrew Garfield hasn’t hung up the web-shooters, but don’t expect him to swing into Avengers: Doomsday. He’s open to suiting up again—just not for that showdown.
Marvel is keeping Avengers: Doomsday locked up like Fort Knox, but even with filming wrapped and set leaks drying up, there are still plenty of mystery faces we probably haven’t heard about yet. One person you can cross off your bingo card, though: Andrew Garfield. He says he’s not in it. At all.
Garfield shuts it down, hard
Garfield did one of those GQ videos where he answers fan questions pulled from around the internet — YouTube, Reddit, Quora, and X. When he hit an X post asking, ‘Will Tobey and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man be in Avengers Doomsday aswell?’ he didn’t hedge or tease.
'No. Unequivocally, f*cking no.'
That’s about as clear as it gets. Could he be lying? Sure, Marvel actors have fibbed before. But Garfield has also been pretty upfront about what would get him to put the suit back on again, and it doesn’t sound like Doomsday fits.
What he would come back for
He’s said if he returns as Spider-Man, it has to be genuinely odd: something unique, offbeat, surprising — more than the quick-hit nostalgia he did in No Way Home. Doomsday doesn’t seem like that kind of playground. Secret Wars, though? That one feels engineered for maximum multiversal chaos and cameo overload.
Two reasons Secret Wars looks like the better fit:
- It’s positioned to be Marvel’s biggest movie yet and, for the nerdy calendar-watchers, the 40th MCU film. That’s prime 'bring everyone back' energy.
- Doomsday still has to do a lot of heavy lifting on plot. Secret Wars will have the runway — and the excuse — to throw literally everything and everyone at the screen.
The Spider-bros are not throwing hands
Another fan tossed him the classic hypothetical: who wins in a fight — Tobey’s Spider-Man, Andrew’s Spider-Man, or Tom’s Spider-Man? Garfield’s answer was very on brand:
'We wouldn’t fight. We’re friends.'
Diplomatic. And honestly, after No Way Home, fair point.
So where does that leave Doomsday?
Huge cast, filming in the can, and Marvel secrecy cranked to 11 — but per Garfield, don’t expect his Spider-Man swinging in. Could that change? Anything’s possible with these movies. For now, take him at his word and save your multiverse expectations for Secret Wars.
