Marvel’s fan-favorite duo is reuniting — just not in the MCU. With Robert Downey Jr. stepping into Doctor Doom for Avengers: Doomsday and Tom Holland shooting his next Spider-Man, the pair have teamed up off-screen for a surprise project fans won’t want to miss.

Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland are back together... just not the way Marvel diehards might hope. Instead of trading quips in an MCU scene, they teamed up on something you can actually drink. And yeah, there are some fun, very inside-baseball details baked in.

The team-up: BERO x happy

The duo announced a limited-edition collab between their beverage brands on Instagram: Holland's non-alcoholic beer outfit BERO and Downey's coffee company happy. The reveal came with a playful reel and a very on-brand sentiment that the whole thing was born out of their friendship and a shared love of getting people together over good drinks.

  • BERO x happy Coffee Draught: a smooth, stout-style non-alcoholic brew built around fresh coffee character. Basically, a coffee-forward NA stout.
  • happy x BERO Eternal Hoptimist: 100% arabica ground coffee from Brazil and Colombia, with hop-inspired vibes and a citrusy lift.

Both are available now exclusively at Target stores across the US.

Why these two, and why now

If you were hoping this meant an on-screen reunion, not so fast. Holland is busy on his next Spider-Man movie. Downey has been widely rumored to be playing Doctor Doom in a project called Avengers: Doomsday, and there are separate rumors about the Russos returning for that, too. None of that has been officially confirmed by Marvel, and there is no confirmed update about any Holland/Downey reunion in that project. So, for now, the reunion is liquid.

Friends first, brands second

Downey and Holland have been tight since the mid-2010s, when they first shared the screen in Captain America: Civil War. The mentor/mentee dynamic from the movies spilled into real life and never really went away.

'My friendship with Tom stems from mutual support and respect, and this partnership is exactly that - sharing what we love and creating quality products in tandem.'

Holland echoed the vibe in the announcement, saying this kind of collab only works when it is with a friend, and that Downey knows coffee inside and out. The goal, in Holland's words, was to hit the same standards both brands preach: quality, craft, premium feel in every sip.

RDJ's coffee obsession, with a purpose

Downey co-founded happy with serial entrepreneur Craig Dubitsky, and he takes the coffee side seriously. He has joked that he credits coffee, in part, for his sanity. He taste-tested blends himself and even pushed the launch back by a year so the roasting and blends were right. There is also a philanthropic piece: happy granted an undisclosed equity stake to NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), supporting mental health efforts.

Holland's NA beer has a personal origin story

BERO, which Holland built with Imaginary Ventures and former Nutrabolt president John Herman, leans premium in the non-alcoholic space. It is also personal. Holland has been sober for more than two years, a decision that started when he realized how much he was thinking about alcohol during a Dry January attempt. He talked about hitting his breaking point over the holidays, and how that month without drinking made him realize he might have a problem. The brand is essentially his way to support that lifestyle without giving up the social side of having a drink.

Inside baseball: Marvel friends on the marketing side

Downey has kept his Marvel circle close for happy. He tapped Joe and Anthony Russo for help with the brand's launch campaign, which was handled by Superconductor, the creative agency the Russos co-founded with Justin Lin. The ads had that slick, Hollywood polish you would expect. The Russos even posted congrats when happy launched. And in a very 'worlds colliding' moment, Downey bumped into Iron Man director (and co-star) Jon Favreau at Walt Disney Imagineering, and the two posed for a happy-branded pic captioned '#Happy heavy hitters.'

Bottom line: if you want the Downey/Holland reunion right now, it is in your cup or your can. Coffee in the morning, NA stout at night, zero hangover, maximum nostalgia.
