Invincible Creator Is Ready For Spin-offs — Here's What's Holding Them Up

Invincible has a universe big enough to support three shows and a theme park, so fans keep asking the obvious: where are the spin-offs? Creator Robert Kirkman just addressed it, and the short version is: they want to, but the clock is not their friend.
So where are the spin-offs?
In a recent interview while pushing Invincible Season 4 (dropping March 18 on Amazon Prime Video), Kirkman said the team is all-in on the idea... just not right now. The main show is a beast to wrangle, and the priority is keeping it on a steady, yearly cadence.
"Right now, we would certainly love to do more," Kirkman said. "There's an expansive, vast world within Invincible but right now, we're focused on getting the show out on a yearly basis and, again, just managing the enormity of this series is so daunting... It's definitely keeping us busy."
Translation: when you are juggling this many characters, set pieces, and that level of animation, side quests go on the whiteboard, not the schedule.
Why the Atom Eve special happened
That standalone Atom Eve episode? It served a very specific purpose. After the long wait between Seasons 1 and 2, the special was designed to bridge the gap, ease the downtime, and win people back after the delay. Once that mission was accomplished, the team refocused on making sure the flagship series hits its dates going forward.
"But you know, as time goes on, there's certainly corners of this universe that we would love to explore more, and so, who knows what the future holds?"
The comics are already doing it
If you want that expanded-universe fix right now, the comics have been there for years. Beyond the main run, we already got a handful of side stories, and another arrived last spring:

Bottom line
Season 4 lands March 18 on Amazon Prime Video, and that is where all the energy is going. Spin-offs are absolutely on the wish list, but the team wants to keep the main event on a dependable annual schedule first. The potential is huge; the patience will have to match it.
