Selling Sunset season 9 comes in hot as Chrishell Stause’s red flags over Emma Hernan’s boyfriend Blake Davis spark a rift the cameras barely capture — with the real fallout erupting off-screen. New episodes dropped October 29.

Season 9 of Selling Sunset landed on Netflix with the usual glass-box mansions and champagne aggression, but the loudest storyline isn't a listing at all. It's Chrishell Stause side-eyeing Emma Hernan's boyfriend, Blake Davis, so hard that their friendship buckles—mostly off camera, but you feel the tremors all season.

The off-screen rift that set this up

Before the new episodes even dropped, things between Chrishell and Emma had already cooled. The reason, per Chrishell: Blake. He's 28, branded as a real estate heir, and has been on-and-off with Emma since late 2023. For the fun trivia column, his dad had a hand in inventing microwave popcorn, and the family's actual money is in property.

In May 2025, Chrishell addressed fan questions about where things stood with Emma and did not mince words about Blake.

"Ask her about her MAGA bf who told me pronouns are dumb and that he likes to use the N-word. I just can't with that. Too old to allow that in."

She added that she still loves Emma—just from a distance. Blake fired back via the Daily Mail, saying he's met Chrishell only a handful of times, never talked politics with her, and didn't make those comments. He did admit he misgendered Chrishell's partner, G Flip, but said he corrected himself.

Then, after the Season 9 trailer hit, Blake reportedly went on a mini Instagram bender aimed at Chrishell, including a poll about whether he should sue her—with some very charming, censored phrasing. It read like a late-night rage post. Around the same time, fans noticed Emma and Chrishell had unfollowed each other, which, in 2025, is the modern press release for a friendship on ice.

What the cameras actually show in Season 9

On screen, the Blake of it all arrives in Episode 4, when Emma introduces him to Chrishell and Chelsea Lazkani. Emma sells him as fun, family-oriented, and the guy she keeps boomeranging back to. The meet-cute goes sideways fast. Blake jokes that he's never eaten a fruit or a vegetable, can't place Boston on a map, and says his natural scent is vodka and chicken fingers. Chrishell's reaction is basically: Why is my ambitious friend interested in a college freshman energy drink?

As the season rolls on, Chrishell gets more blunt: she thinks Blake is controlling and quietly undermines Emma's independence and work. Emma defends him, but the concern hangs over every scene they share.

By Episode 8, Blake drunkenly proposes, Emma calls it the worst proposal ever, and she turns him down. She ultimately ends it, saying he wasn't okay with her lifestyle and that the jealousy/possessiveness escalated. When she tells Chrishell it's over, you can see the relief; Chrishell even worries out loud about the long-term tie of a baby with the wrong guy. And yet, in her confessional, Emma hints she's still open to another shot. Of course she is.

But in real time...

Cut to months later on Instagram: Emma and Blake appear to be back on, posting couple shots from Turks & Caicos in September 2025. So yes, what you see in Season 9 may not match where they are today.

The vibe heading into the reunion

The season wraps by teasing a reunion confrontation where Emma and Chrishell look... not great. The friendship seems headed for a real test, and not the fun kind with champagne sabers.

  • Late 2023: Emma and Blake start an on-and-off relationship
  • May 2025: Chrishell's IG comment slams Blake's alleged behavior; Blake denies and acknowledges misgendering G Flip

Where it lands (for now)

Chrishell hasn't budged on Blake. Emma says her love life is her call. The show gives us the messy middle, then real life keeps moving the goalposts. Classic reality TV math.

Selling Sunset Season 9 is streaming now on Netflix. The reunion hits November 5, 2025 (US).
