In All 12 Seasons, This Is the Worst Thing Sheldon Did on The Big Bang Theory
It's upsetting that he hasn't faced any retribution for it.
Summary
- Sheldon has done many despicable things on TBBT.
- He was at his nastiest after winning the Nobel Prize in Season 12.
- Sheldon's behavior proved that he was still an inconsiderate egotist at the end of the show.
Since TBBT premiered, Dr. Sheldon Cooper has been one of the most eccentric and controversial characters on TV. Despite his acknowledged genius, Sheldon has terribly poor social skills. As a result, he's often rude to people around him without realizing it or even intending to be.
Of course, there has been speculation that Sheldon is portrayed as a neurodivergent character, which hinders his social development. For this reason, both the other characters and the audience quickly learn to overlook his antics and quirks. But sometimes Sheldon is so obnoxious that his behavior cannot be ignored.
Over the course of The Big Bang Theory's twelve seasons, Dr. Cooper has said or done many nasty things to his friends. For example, in Season 7, the gang bought a dining room table for Sheldon and Leonard's apartment so they could all sit at it while sharing a meal, but Sheldon refused to accept the change and the guys were guilt-tripped into getting rid of the item. Still, that's not the worst thing Dr. Cooper has done on the show.
Degrading Amy
In episode 15 of TBBT's 12th season, Sheldon and Amy receive a phone call from the Nobel Committee informing them that they've won the prize. At first, Sheldon is happy to the point of being incredulous that it is real (which causes Leonard to slap him). But then Dr. Cooper becomes concerned about the change the win will bring to his life.
Meanwhile, Amy gets a makeover from Raj to celebrate the victory. Rajesh works his magic on Dr. Fowler and manages to accentuate and enhance her beauty with elegant clothes, hairstyle and makeup. And Amy looks gorgeous and happy. However, when she asks Sheldon what he thinks of her new look, he dismissively tells her that he liked her old self more and suggests that she change back.
The Epitome of Egotism
Of course, Sheldon is going through a crisis in this episode. And change has a disturbing effect on him. But it only shows how inconsiderate he is and how he sees the world only from his own perspective. Sheldon wallows in self-pity and doesn't even think that his words might hurt the person who cares about him the most.
Dr. Cooper is entitled to his own opinion, and he may not like this change in Amy's appearance. However, Sheldon should have been supportive or at least neutral about his girlfriend's makeover instead of blaming her for his own problems.
