Hunter x Hunter is not reviving the anime next year, but it is doing something big: the series is getting a new mobile game in 2026. Yes, it is free-to-play with in-app purchases. Yes, it is a roguelite. And yes, it might actually be the jolt this franchise needs.
So what is 'Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor'?
It is a new action-focused survival roguelite for Android and iOS. You pick familiar Hunter x Hunter characters, carve through waves of enemies, and take on boss fights that are explicitly modeled after major showdowns from the original story. The pitch is simple controls up front, deeper systems under the hood if you want to plan and optimize.

Why this matters (and why now)
Hunter x Hunter started as Yoshihiro Togashi's manga back in 1998 and exploded in popularity. Then the momentum stalled. Since 2006, the manga has been hit by long, repeated hiatuses, and both the anime and the manga remain unfinished. The franchise's heat has cooled because of that, so a globally targeted release that is the series' first survival roguelite and one of its biggest projects in years could put it back in the conversation. If the boss encounters really lean on those iconic fights, that is catnip for longtime fans.
Who is making it
Bushiroad Games is publishing, and WonderPlanet is developing. They announced the project together and are calling the shots on the rollout. The trailer out now tees up the game's premise rather than deep mechanics, which tracks with a project still in production.
One more game in the mix
Separate from 'Nen x Survivor', there is also 'Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact' on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Different game, different platform focus.
Where to watch Hunter x Hunter right now
If the game news nudges you back to the show, Hunter x Hunter is streaming on Crunchyroll.
Will a mobile roguelite be the thing that reignites Hunter x Hunter hype? Cautious optimism feels fair here. At minimum, it is a real swing after a long quiet stretch.
