How Many Episodes Are In Task & When Each One Drops On HBO

Task isn't just rolling out as a one-off — HBO has mapped out a full season, and fans are already counting down. The big question: how many episodes are we getting, and when will each one land? Here's the full breakdown of the release schedule so you know exactly when to tune in.
HBO has a new Brad Ingelsby crime miniseries on deck, and if you watched Mare of Easttown, you know the vibe: working-class Philly suburbs, complicated people, and a cop who is barely keeping their personal life together. This one is called 'Task' and, yes, the title is not subtle.
The setup
Created by Brad Ingelsby (the guy behind Kate Winslet's 'Mare of Easttown'), 'Task' follows Tom Brandis, a former priest who is now an FBI agent. He gets pulled into a cat-and-mouse hunt for a violent robber who, on the surface, looks like an ordinary family man. Brandis is also juggling his own mess at home after the death of his wife, which is not exactly helping his judgment on the job. Inside baseball note: that Philly-area grit Ingelsby loves is very much in play here.
How many episodes?
Seven. 'Task' is a 7-episode limited series.
When do new episodes drop?
New episodes air Sundays on HBO, starting in September and running weekly through October.
- Episode 1 - September 7, 2025
- Episode 2 - September 14, 2025
- Episode 3 - September 21, 2025
- Episode 4 - September 28, 2025
- Episode 5 - October 5, 2025
- Episode 6 - October 12, 2025
- Episode 7 - October 19, 2025
Who is in it?
Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, and Raul Castillo. HBO is not exactly skimping on the cast list here.
Where to watch
You can watch 'Task' on HBO and on the streaming side with HBO Max. HBO is the pay-TV network under Home Box Office Inc., which is part of Warner Bros. Discovery. HBO Max is the subscription streaming service that carries both originals and licensed movies and shows across a bunch of genres and languages. If you want it as it airs, go linear on HBO Sundays; if you prefer on-demand, stream it on HBO Max.
The official blurb
'In the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent heads a task force assembled to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man.'
