How Many Below Deck Crew Members Share That Epic $40k Tip?
Fans are wondering how much money each crew member will get.
The Bravo reality show about a crew working aboard a luxury superyacht during the charter season has been a big win for the channel, having successfully aired for almost a decade since it premiered in 2013.
And it looks like Below Deck isn't about to be canceled anytime soon, as the current 10th season has already showcased tons of drama, unexpected plot twists and great character development for some of the crew members.
However, it seems that one scene will forever stick in the minds of fans as the defining moment of season 10 – the insane $40,000 tip.
In the recently released episode 16, the team were stunned to discover that a generous group of guests had left them an insane tip. Fans were surprised as well, since the $40,000 tip was the largest in Below Deck history, breaking the previous record of $8,000. As the team celebrated their sudden enrichment, fans began to wonder who would share the tip.
According to the show itself, each team member will receive exactly $3,076 from the tip, and with some basic math, fans were able to calculate that 13 team members would be sharing the tip.
And this came as a bit of a surprise to some fans, as they didn't know that Captain Lee would also get his share. Few objected that the captain was already well paid and shouldn't take money away from his crew, as their welfare depended on tips. But, of course, things are not as simple as they seem.
Some fans are quick to point out that Captain Lee does a lot of activities with his guests himself, apart from the dinner he spends with them, which is quite unusual for this reality show.
The captain is constantly at their disposal, acting as a sort of luxury guide, telling guests about local attractions, recommending restaurants and making them feel at home on the yacht. Given this, it's only natural that guests would choose to tip so much thanks to his wonderful service, so Captain Lee should definitely get his share of the money.
