Zachery Ty Bryan keeps finding new ways to stay in the headlines, and not the fun kind. The 44-year-old Home Improvement alum was arrested again in Eugene, Oregon, and this time his fiancee, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, was also taken into custody. Yes, that makes six arrests in five years.
What happened this time
According to jail records and reporting, Bryan was booked for allegedly violating his probation tied to a prior domestic violence conviction. He is being held without bail at Lane County Jail, and the jail roster lists a release date of December 3, 2025.
Cartwright was arrested too. She is facing five charges, including DUI and first-degree assault, and she also remains in custody.
How we got here: a quick timeline
- 2020: In a domestic assault case, Bryan received a 36-month probation, which authorities say he is still on.
- 2023: Prosecutors charged him with fourth-degree felony assault, third-degree robbery, and misdemeanor harassment.
- 2024: Authorities arrested him twice for DUI.
- January: He was arrested again after a woman alleged he assaulted her, claiming he choked her and punched her in the face multiple times. The woman was reportedly Cartwright, with whom he shares three children.
- Now: Arrested in Eugene for an alleged probation violation. This is arrest number six in five years.
For what it is worth, Cartwright publicly backed him in 2023, and her statement definitely raised eyebrows at the time:
"Trauma can bring struggles in many shapes and forms. It is a horrible situation that is going to be spun in so many ways. I have learned firsthand the truth will never align with what has been put out there. I ask everyone to please be respectful of our privacy for the sake of the children and our families so the healing process can begin."
