ABC's breakout drama High Potential just added some serious firepower for Season 2. Steve Howey, best known as Kev from Shameless, has officially joined the cast as a series regular.

He'll play Jesse Wagner, the new precinct captain — a sharp-dressed, politically savvy operator who's as charming as he is strategic. That alone should create friction with Kaitlin Olson's Morgan, whose unconventional style isn't exactly regulation. But Wagner also apparently has a habit of ending up in the middle of the action, which could put him right in Morgan and Karadec's orbit whether he likes it or not.

It's a big TV comeback for Howey, who hasn't held a series regular role since 2023's True Lies on CBS — a show that fizzled out fast despite heavy promotion. Since then, he's popped up in guest spots on NBC (Brilliant Minds, Happy's Place), but High Potential marks his full-time return to primetime.

Meanwhile, Kaitlin Olson — whose performance as Morgan earned plenty of praise last season — is also stepping up behind the scenes with a promotion to executive producer for Season 2.

The show returns to its Tuesday 10 p.m. slot this fall after Dancing with the Stars on ABC. No exact premiere date yet, but Season 1 is available to stream now on Hulu.
