With The Smashing Machine hitting theaters today, fans are already asking when they can stream Mark Kerr’s bruising saga at home.

The Smashing Machine is finally in theaters, and yes, I know the next question: when can you watch it at home? Quick version: there isn’t an official date yet, but A24 has a playbook, and the math points to a pretty clear window.

What is it, and where are we now?

This one is a biographical sports drama about MMA legend Mark Kerr, zeroing in on both the professional grind and the personal messiness that came with it. It just hit theaters, and early reactions are positive, which matters for the timeline below.

Digital release (purchase/rental)

No digital premiere date has been announced. Historically, A24 tends to flip its movies to digital about a month after they open theatrically. Recent examples: the Western comedy Eddington went from theaters on July 18, 2025 to digital on August 12, 2025, and Warfare moved from an April 11, 2025 theatrical release to digital on May 6, 2025. If The Smashing Machine follows that pattern, you’re looking at early November 2025 for digital.

Caveat time: if the movie holds well at the box office, A24 will squeeze the theatrical window longer. Given the warm reviews out of the gate, a delay beyond that early November target wouldn’t be surprising. In short, expect November 2025 for digital, but don’t lock it in until the studio makes it official.

Streaming (subscription)

The Smashing Machine is expected to stream on HBO Max near the end of February or into March of next year. A24’s typical streaming window lands around four to five months after theatrical. For context, Warfare hit HBO Max on September 12, 2025 after opening on April 11, 2025, and Death of a Unicorn arrived on July 25, 2025 after a March 28, 2025 theatrical run. Using that same 4–5 month runway, The Smashing Machine should land on HBO Max sometime between late February and mid-March 2026.

When it does show up, you’ll need a paid HBO Max subscription; the service doesn’t offer free trials.

Bottom line: no dates are official yet, but the smart bet is digital in early November 2025 and streaming on HBO Max in late February to mid-March 2026. If it overperforms in theaters, expect everything to shift later.
