Here's Everything The Witcher Cast Said About Hemsworth Replacing Cavill
'Liam brings something really interesting to the role'
Henry Cavill's portrayal of The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia is one that has earned him plenty of praise and admiration. And as he bids farewell to the series, he leaves some pretty big boots to fill.
But Australian actor Liam Hemsworth looks like he could be a great choice to fill them. And his new castmates are right behind him.
Joey Batey (Jaskier), who has been in contact with Hemsworth via email, says that the new Geralt is 'throwing himself into it'. He added that Hemsworth's 'ttraining regime is insane, and he's been devouring the books.'
Speaking to ComicBook, Anya Chalotra (who plays Yennefer) said she's 'excited…to have Liam on board' but that it will be 'bizarre' not to have Cavill on set. While she'll miss the outgoing star, who she says 'carried the show', she also feels there's 'so much story still to tell' and that she's 'very, very excited for what's to come'.
The Witcher Season 3 Scene Was So Intense, It Made The Cast Cry in PainBatey echoed that sentiment, saying he's 'excited to see something new' and that Liam Hemsworth brings something 'fresh and invigorating' to the show and the lead role in it.
Chalotra also emailed Hemsworth with 'a message of support' when he was announced as the new Geralt. And she said she 'can't wait' to meet him.
In fact, it seems that the only one of Hemsworth's triumvirate of main cast mates who hasn't been in contact with him so far is Freya Allen, whose character, Ciri, shares a sort of father-daughter relationship with Geralt, despite the fact that they're not actually blood relatives.
Not that she hasn't thought about what Hemsworth will bring to the table. In the interview with ComicBook (alongside Batey and Chalotra), she said it would be 'intriguing and exciting to see another version... or interpretation' of Geralt.
Other members of the cast are also looking forward to finally working with Liam Hemsworth. Graham McTavish (Dijkstra) said that he's also 'very excited' and that he thinks 'Liam brings something really interesting to the role'.
Despite some concerns from fans about how the change in leading man might affect the show, executive producer Tomek Baginski says the transition will be 'flawless'. And so far, the rest of the cast all seem to be looking forward to working with Hemsworth.
But for now, let's all just enjoy one last season of Henry Cavill in the role he truly made his own.
