Here's Every Connection Between Bridgerton & Queen Charlotte's Stories
The Bridgerton spin-off is intertwined with its parent series in many ways, says the prequel's main star.
Fans can't wait for the Bridgerton universe to expand with the prequel miniseries Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which hits screens in just two weeks, on May 4. Some viewers are upset because the spin-off seemingly took over the time slot of Season 3 of the main series, saying they would rather watch the continuation of the Bridgerton siblings' love escapades than the events of the past.
But as it turns out, Queen Charlotte is more closely connected to Bridgerton than fans think, and the new show may even hold some clues to the events of its future episodes.
In her interview with RadioTimes, Golda Rosheuvel, known to fans as Queen Charlotte, explained how the stories of the prequel and the parent series are actually linked. Here are the key points she mentioned.
Parallel Narrative
The spin-off is set about 35 years before the events of Bridgerton and shows younger versions of the already beloved characters of Charlotte, Agatha Danbury, and Violet Bridgerton. But it turns out the show will also feature the current timeline of Bridgerton, set sometime between Seasons 2 and 3.
This means that the characters will be played by two sets of actors, and the prequel may give us some new information about the present-day Bridgertons and their love interests.
Relationships Between Characters
The prequel is expected to be even more steamy than its parent show, with different couples taking the stage, but it will also pay close attention to the friendship between its key female characters.
Fans know that the Queen, Lady Danbury, and Lady Bridgerton are close in Bridgerton, but how did their friendly relationships develop? The spin-off is going to show that.
Multicultural World
Probably one of the most exciting aspects of Bridgerton is the idea of a multicultural high society of fictional Regency-era London.
Watching the main series, viewers simply accept it as reality, but Queen Charlotte will actually dive into the creation of this alternate universe, in which Charlotte and Lady Danbury play central roles, of course.
Lady Whistledown
Fans have come to love the enigmatic columnist of the ton, and many should be happy to learn that she will be featured in the prequel too. A few present-day scenes will be narrated by our favorite gossip girl.
Easter eggs
In her interview, Golda Rosheuvel shared that the spin-off will contain some Easter eggs as a reference to the parent show. It's likely that these Easter eggs will hint at the events in the future episodes, so they're definitely something to look forward to.
Shondaland Brand
If there's one thing we can be sure of, it's that Shonda Rhimes and her team will never fail to create that special Bridgerton vibe that fans love so much. Viewers can expect the prequel to be just as romantic, exciting, and addictive as the main series itself.
