Get your laughing gear around this lot.

They say that laughter is the best medicine. And sometimes you just crave a decent comedy show. And the good news is, there are plenty of them out there that you don't know the scripts for, because you've probably never seen them.

Here are five one-liner-packed comedies that will always put a smile on your face:

1. Not Going Out

Lee Mack and Sally Bretton star in the UK's second longest running sitcom. When the show began in 2006, Mack played a fictionalised version of himself: a lazy, unambitious thirty-something who lives with a woman called Kate (played by Megan Dodds), for whom he has a bit of an eye. Sally Bretton replaced Dodds for season 2 and has been with the show ever since. From then on, the relationship between Lee and Kate became the focus of the show. It's full of wit and one-liners.

2. Still Game

Written by and starring Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, the show follows three 74-year-olds - Jack Jarvis, Victor McDade and Winston Ingram - as they go about their elderly lives in Scotland. Adapted from a play that took place in a single room, it relies heavily on dialogue for its comedy, and the one-liners just keep coming.

3. The Cleaner

Greg Davies stars as a crime scene cleaner who has very little to do with crime and everything to do with people and the way they behave. Each episode is its own story and you don't have to watch them in order. Written by Davies, the script has plenty of his trademark wit and observational humour. Guest stars include Helena Bonham Carter, David Mitchel and Stephanie Cole.

4. Knowing Me, Knowing You

The parody chat show that first introduced Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge. When it first came out, the show received several complaints from confused viewers who hadn't realised it was all a joke. Coogan is hilarious as the self-centred but lovable host who just can't stop putting his foot in it.

5. Extras

Great Ricky Gervais, it's never really been clear why this show isn't as highly regarded as The Office. Gervais plays Andy Millman, an extra and aspiring comedy writer represented by his hapless agent Darren Lamb (Steven Merchant). Guest stars include Kate Winslet, Samuel L Jackson and Patrick Stewart, all of whom should be prepared for a little Ricky Gervais mockery. As a nice little addition, Shaun Williamson plays a parody of himself.
