Heartstopper Cast Already Working on Season 3, And We Got the Perfect Proof
Looks like the cast already knows what happens in S3.
Over recent years, Netflix has released several high-profile hits that have effortlessly climbed to the pinnacle of ratings. Heartstopper stands out among these shows, offering a gripping teen love story that draws an ever-growing audience spanning various age groups. The adaptation by Alice Oseman of her own graphic novel series offers a deeper self-awareness and better representation of those often overlooked in the media.
Thus, we are always happy to learn of any updates on the upcoming season of Heartstopper. Though Season 2 wrapped up in August, Netflix had already announced in May that it would be renewing the show for at least two more seasons. So, it's only a matter of time before cameras roll again for Nick and Charlie's continuing saga. Moreover, Joe Locke, who portrayed Charlie, seems to have dropped hints suggesting that the cast is already prepping for the new season.
Season 3 Development
While filming hasn't officially begun and is not expected to start until October, according to several sources, Oseman is already forging ahead with a script. At least the first episode, titled Love, is ready.
Furthermore, Heartstopper is a British production. So, even if some cast members are SAG-affiliated, it's unlikely that the SAg-AFTRA strikes will impede the beginning of the filming process. Of course, only time will tell what will happen in the end.
Meanwhile, certain teasers from Joe Locke suggest that the actors have already begun initial work.

On his personal Instagram, Locke shared a notable story. In it, he seems to be sitting opposite what appears to be William Gao, who played Charlie's best friend, Tao. Gao is wearing a t-shirt featuring artwork by Oseman from Volume 3, whose events are hinted at in Season 2. Admittedly, many fans would kill for a T-shirt like that!
The setting suggests they might be at a script read-through, given the backdrop of attendees with coffee, microphones, and what seem to be physical script copies. Gao's t-shirt itself offers a hint. If this is the case, filming might kick off quite soon!
S3 Release Date
The premiere date for Season 3 is yet to be disclosed, with Netflix keeping mum on the matter. But, assuming the Hollywood strike doesn't hinder production and gauging from the timeline of previous seasons, it's plausible that Season 3 might be released toward the end of 2024.
