Max is doing that thing it does every fall: quietly dropping a mountain of spooky movies while sneaking in some reality TV, food travel, and the occasional very specific Adult Swim oddity. If you want polygamist drama, car-nerd tinkering, or a full-on horror marathon, this week has you covered.
What stands out
On Sept 29, we get Sister Wives season 20, which means more of Kody, the four wives, and 18 kids trying to keep a very complicated family stitched together with good intentions and lots of talks on the couch. Also that day: Two Guys Garage hits season 24, with Kevin Byrd and William B getting hands-on in Tampa with repairs, mods, and restorations, plus demos and shop visits for gearheads who like their TV with grease under the nails.
The culinary travel show Eva Longoria: Searching For Spain lands Sept 30 as a CNN Original, following Eva through Spain as she digs into food that is deeply tied to regional culture. Same day, CNN Original My Happy Place brings a rotating group of hosts to personal spots that matter to them, with a 'this means more than you think' angle. There is also Prime Minister (an HBO Original) and a new series Good Cop/Bad Cop in the mix.
Oct 1 is the big catalog dump. Max is basically saying: here is Halloween in one button. Multiple Elm Streets, three Halloweens (the 90s/00s era), Poltergeist, The Exorcist, The Shining, Hereditary, Talk to Me (2023), the A24 double of Pearl and X, Trick 'r Treat, and kid-friendly counterprogramming like Krypto Saves the Day: Halloween Havoc and the Scooby-Doo duo. Tucked in there is also a CNN Originals special about tariffs because... sure, why not. Inside baseball alert: Adult Swim gets weird with Women Wearing Shoulder Pads: English Dub, Movie-Length Version on the 29th, which feels like a late-night fever dream someone put in a suit jacket.
Oct 2 leans into docu/crime: Air India Crash: Declassified (Discovery, dated 2025), Mysteries of the Abandoned season 12, and true-crime tie-ins The Friday the 13th Murders (season 1) and The Real Murders on Elm Street (season 2). On Oct 3, A24 drops Bring Her Back, and Magnolia Network returns with Where We Call Home season 4.

One housekeeping note: the source labels this batch as Sept 29 to Oct 5, but the actual drops listed run through Oct 3. Also, some day-of-week tags looked off, so I stuck to the dates themselves. If more titles pop up for Oct 4-5, I will update.
