The fate of Sheldon's twin sister was not the happiest.

The Big Bang Theory is an incredibly entertaining show, not only because of its great humor and vibrant ensemble cast, but also because of the deep backstory behind each character. Throughout TBBT's 12 seasons, the writing team led by Chuck Lorrie, Bill Prady, and Steven Molaro developed a great deal of lore, which includes the life stories of the main characters' relatives.

When Sheldon Cooper's twin sister Missy made her debut in TBBT Season 1, she came across as a nice and empathetic person who, despite lacking the intelligence of her brother, was still quite witty and insightful. However, not every fan liked the child version of Missy in the prequel Young Sheldon, and it looks like her fate, as revealed in TBBT, turned out to be some kind of karmic punishment for the character.

Throughout Young Sheldon, Missy is often caustic towards her brother, and she seems to have turned into an overly arrogant, self-centered person in the recent Season 6. In one episode, for example, she mentions her father's 'affair' with neighbor Brenda Sparks right in front of him and also runs away from home several times, to the great dismay of her family, who is going through plenty of internal troubles.

As a grown-up, Sheldon manages to move to sunny California and even win a Nobel Prize, but it looks like his twin sister's adult life is a little less bright. Although in Young Sheldon, Missy regularly complained that their hometown of Medford, Texas, was too boring, she apparently stayed there after finishing high school.

In TBBT's Season 11 episode 'The Bow Tie Asymmetry,' Missy and Mary fly to Los Angeles to attend Sheldon and Amy's wedding. This suggests that she still lives close to her mother, with whom she has a strained relationship.

At that point in TBBT, Missy is shown to be pregnant and separated from her husband, which apparently makes her very happy. Even though her labor was rather hard, she gave birth to a baby boy, and as Sheldon's narration in Season 4 of Young Sheldon revealed, continued to live a happy life among her family and friends in Texas.

Of course, Missy's fate is not tragic per se because both Young Sheldon and TBBT are lighthearted sitcoms, and viewers wouldn't expect the characters to suffer much. However, the fact that her future hasn't turned out as great as her brother's is quite fitting, considering how much trouble she caused to her family in Young Sheldon.

We can certainly expect more details about Missy's teenage and adult life to be revealed in the upcoming Season 7 of Young Sheldon. The release date for the new season is yet to be announced.
