Delay? What delay. GTA 6 stormed The Game Awards 2025 to snag Most Anticipated Game again, even as Rockstar targets a November 2026 launch.

GTA 6 just did it again. At The Game Awards 2025, Rockstar’s next behemoth snagged Most Anticipated Game for the second year in a row. Yes, even after being pushed to November 2026. If it feels like Rockstar has figured out how to win trophies without shipping anything, you are not alone.

So what actually happened?

Despite a packed field this year — Marvel’s Wolverine, The Witcher 4, and Resident Evil Requiem all showed up — GTA 6 still walked off with the fan-voted Most Anticipated prize. It also won the exact same award at The Game Awards 2024. Back-to-back hype trophies for a game that keeps moving the goalposts is… a little funny, a little absurd, and totally predictable.

You could argue it is odd to be nominated twice for anticipation, but it is hard to pretend this thing is not the main event. Players have been waiting more than a decade since GTA 5, and Rockstar’s scope and ambition are obviously keeping the fuse lit.

  • TGA 2024: GTA 6 wins Most Anticipated Game
  • Delay: Slipped to November 2026; the current target floating around is November 19, 2026
  • TGA 2025: GTA 6 wins Most Anticipated Game again
  • Context: GTA 5’s online mode is still getting updates, so expectations for a pop-culture moment are sky high

About that release date

A second delay does not feel likely right now, but it is not impossible. If GTA 6 slips again and misses 2026, it could technically show up as Most Anticipated a third time at The Game Awards 2026 — which would be both ridiculous and, let’s be real, another easy win. Hopefully it does not come to that. Until we actually hit November 19, 2026, assume anything can happen.

And if it did push into 2027? That would sting, especially for PC players. Rockstar’s pattern is console-first, PC later — and GTA 6 is following that playbook — so the wait on that platform is already longer even without another delay.

Anyway, a win is a win. GTA 6 just added another plaque to the wall for a game none of us can play yet. Thoughts on it taking Most Anticipated two years straight?
