Instead, it wakes up the side shoots from the axils of the first three leaves. That is where the action is: the overwhelming majority of female flowers form on those lateral lashes, which is gardener-speak for more fruit, sooner, and lower on the plant where it is easy to pick.
The yeast drink adds fuel right when the plant is scrambling to rebuild its architecture. As the mix ferments, it supplies carbon dioxide and nitrogen, two things a cucumber leans on to push new, fruiting side shoots. A small note of restraint: direct hits on the fresh pinch point are a bad idea because tender tissue there stays wet and can rot.
