Summary
- Good Omens was one of the most anticipated releases of the summer.
- After the heartwarming second installment, the show will end on a darker note.
- According to Neil Gaiman, GO will continue to explore its main storyline.
While many of our favorite shows, including NCIS, Law & Order and Young Sheldon, were delayed this year due to the writers' and actors' strikes, there were a number of exciting premieres throughout the summer and fall. For instance, Season 2 of And Just Like That..., Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias and The Witcher were the ultimate treats. And there was another show that viewers were most excited about.
The second installment of Prime Video's hit fantasy series Good Omens debuted two weeks after the SAG-AFTRA strike began, much to the delight of fans. Following the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale as they keep an eye on the balance of good and evil in the world, Season 2 offered a new perspective on the relationship between the two characters. While they appear to be long-time enemies and adversaries, Crowley and Aziraphale turn out to have feelings for each other, which gave the second season a heartwarming feel. Season 3, however, is said to be just as dark and gruesome as the first.
Return to the Original Grimness
Based on the late Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's eponymous novel, Good Omens explores the classic tale of the battle between good and evil in this world. The Prime Video show depicts key Christian ideas of heaven and hell, angels and demons, and delves into the theme of the impending End of Times, which will be the focus of the third and final season of the series.
'I'm so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006. Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season One was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season Two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in Season Three, we will deal once more with the end of the world,' Neil Gaiman described the upcoming third season of Good Omens.
Ultimately, the characters will have to make things right with each other while dealing with the chaos the world is about to plunge into.
'The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren't talking,' the author added.
So, darkness and chaos are the two things to expect from season 3 of Good Omens. Hopefully, it won't be disappointing.
