Golden Bachelor Just Made Fans Very Happy With Ms. Patty's Exit
ABC's The Golden Bachelor is off to a strong start in its first season, and so far, viewers are pleased with how things are going.
In the premiere episode that aired last Thursday, this season's lead, Gerry Turner, a 72-year-old widower and former restaurateur, went through his first and biggest elimination. He had to say goodbye to six women.
Although it was hard, Gerry made his choice and to the surprise and delight of many viewers, one of his dislikes came to Patty James, who was one of the most notable contestants of the new show.
Patty is known to fans of the dating show as the mother of Bachelor Season 25 lead Matt James, who never misses an opportunity to mention her son on screen or social media. And sure enough, the retired real estate agent didn't disappoint this time around.
‘I think this could work,’ the 70-year-old said as she stepped out of the limo and greeted Gerry for the first time, ‘because my son was the Bachelor and he found love.’
However, the bachelor didn't appreciate the sentiment and Patty got the boot.
Fans are thrilled
While Patty and Matt are the first multi-generational bachelor family in the franchise's history, viewers were happy to see the mother go home on the first night.
‘Me watching Golden Bach peacefully now that Ms. Patty got the boot with almost no screen time,’ one fan wrote on Reddit after the premiere, sparking a discussion.
It seems that Patty managed to ruffle fans' feathers with some of her questionable political and social opinions and the unimpressive and somewhat embarrassing performance.
‘I knew it wasn’t going to work out for her when during her entrance she mentioned her son was the bachelor. She should’ve waited until later on to bring it up and had her entrance focus on Gerry,’ one fan wrote in the discussion.
The general consensus of the fans seems to be that Patty lacks the on-camera personality for a full season appearance, and ABC has only included her as a nostalgic cameo. And cameos are always brief, thank goodness.
