Glen Powell’s Hulu Hit Sets Season 2 Premiere Date—Here’s When It Drops
Game on: Glen Powell’s Hulu sports comedy just scored a Season 2 release date update, cranking up anticipation after last year’s six-episode debut left fans hanging on its eponymous hero. Renewed two months after premiere, the series is lacing up for a comeback.
Glen Powell’s gridiron comedy is moving the chains again, and there’s finally a real update on when we might see more. Season 2 has wrapped filming, which puts the show on track for a late 2026 return if everything in post goes smoothly.
Where Season 2 Stands
The first season dropped on Hulu last fall with six episodes and ended on a juicy cliffhanger for the title character. A renewal followed two months later. Now Michael Waldron (who co-created the series with Powell) has signaled that cameras are down after sharing that Season 2 finished shooting on his Instagram stories. That tracks with the show’s official accounts confirming production kicked off about two months ago.
When Could It Premiere?
No date yet, but October 2026 is looking likely. Waldron previously floated the plan to release the second season around the same time as the first, the following year. Season 1 rolled out between September and October 2025, so the math lines up.
Story Setup
Plot details are locked up, but expect the new episodes to pick up right where things got messy: Ricky Hudson figured out that Chad Powers is actually Russ Holliday. She threatened to blow his cover unless he walked away from the South Georgia Catfish, and he pushed back hard, warning that exposing him would also take down her father, Jake — who happens to be the Catfish’s head coach. Not exactly a low-stakes ultimatum.
Powell’s Big Swing: Bring On Texas
Powell has been open about wanting to get his alma mater into the show this season, and he didn’t mince words about it:
"If we get a Season 2, which as long as the world begs for it and cheers as loud as we think they should, I will definitely be showing the Texas Longhorns. The Catfish will definitely be playing the Longhorns somewhere in Season 2."
He doubled down in another interview, calling the Longhorns cameo non-negotiable for him:
"It was a make-or-break thing for me. I told Waldron, 'If I have to support the UGA football program and not the University of Texas one more time, I'm gonna break.'"
So, yeah — pencil in a Catfish vs. Longhorns showdown.
