Ghost of Yotei Rockets to 3.3 Million in Its First Month, PS5 Bestseller on Pace to 5 Million Faster Than Tsushima
Yotei is on pace to rival Tsushima’s blockbuster debut, which sold 2.4 million copies in three days and 5 million in four months.
Ghost of Yotei is not messing around. Sucker Punch dropped the sequel on PS5 and it immediately started moving units, and now Sony’s latest numbers back that up in black and white.
What Sony just confirmed
Buried on page 13 of Sony’s new financial report is the stat: as of November 2, 2025 — one month after launch — Ghost of Yotei has sold 3.3 million copies worldwide on PS5. That puts it squarely on the console’s best-sellers chart out of the gate.
Where that puts Yotei right now
Sony also calls it their top-selling game in Europe since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. They didn’t attach a number to Spider-Man 2 in that context, just the comparison point. If you go by Wikipedia’s PS5 best-sellers roundup, Yotei’s 3.3 million would slot it as the sixth best-selling PS5 game ever and the top PS5 seller of 2025 so far. That same list also claims it edges out Forza Horizon 5, which is... interesting, considering Forza isn’t on PS5. So treat that particular brag with caution, but the bigger takeaway stands: Yotei’s launch is strong.
How it stacks up to Ghost of Tsushima
The original Ghost of Tsushima was a rocket. It moved 2.4 million copies in its first three days, hit 5 million in four months, and by last September it had climbed to 13 million sold. For perspective, that outpaced The Last of Us Part II, which sits at 10 million. Tsushima also benefited from 2020’s stay-at-home surge in game spending and kept picking up milestones for years — it had very long legs. Matching that run is a high bar for any sequel.
That said, Yotei’s first month at 3.3 million gives it a real shot if it can hold momentum into the holidays and beyond. Early heat matters, but the long tail is what made Tsushima a phenomenon.
By the numbers
- Ghost of Yotei: 3.3 million sold on PS5 one month after launch (as of Nov 2, 2025); Sony’s best-selling game in Europe since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (no number provided); would rank #6 all-time on PS5 and #1 for 2025 per Wikipedia’s list — with the odd caveat that it supposedly tops Forza Horizon 5, which isn’t on PS5.
- Ghost of Tsushima: 2.4 million in first three days; 5 million in four months; 13 million sold by last September; outpacing The Last of Us Part II’s 10 million.
Bottom line: the sequel came out swinging. If it keeps legs anything like Tsushima’s, expect more sales milestones to land before long.
