Ghost of Yotei Armor Guide: Every Set and How to Unlock It Fast

Ghost of Yotei packs 12 unique armor sets with game-changing perks—some locked behind main missions, others hidden in side quests. Track them all down to land the For All Occasions achievement.
Ghost of Yotei throws 12 armor sets at you, each with its own perks and quirks, and the game hides a few behind side quests and fussy little steps. If you collect them all, you snag the For All Occasions trophy. Here’s the clean, no-fuss path to every set, plus one Deluxe-only bonus the game doesn’t exactly shout about.
-
Onryo Armor
This is what Atsu wears from the jump. You don’t unlock it; you just start the story and it’s on. It upgrades as you progress, topping out at Onryo Armor Level V. -
Mercenary Attire
Picked up during the Main Tale: The Oni. It’s story-critical, so you can’t miss it. When the Belly of the Beast chapter starts, Atsu automatically equips the Mercenary Attire and the matching Mercenary Mask. -
Nine Tail Armor
Found mid-mission in the Main Tale: The Kitsune. After you drop the four Nine Tail members in the hideout’s courtyard, you’ll hit a fox statue puzzle to reach the upper building. From left to right, rotate the statues to: right, forward, backward, left. A ladder drops. Climb up, enter the room, and grab the set on display. You also get the Nine Tail Acolyte Mask and Headband. -
Bounty Master Armor
Locked behind the Special Bounty: Soma the Condemned in Yotei Grasslands. This is one of those inside-baseball things: it won’t appear on the bounty board. Kojiro the Bounty Broker hands it to you directly, but only after you clear every other bounty in the region. Beat Soma, and the armor drops automatically. -
Taro’s Armor
You get this from a boy named Taro. He’s a random encounter when you make camp, or he can show up at various camps around the map. When he appears, he offers the armor for free. If RNG hates you, there’s a backup: finish The Loss We Carry, then buy Toku’s Charm back from Taro during that quest to secure the armor. -
Spider Lily Armor
Earned in the Mythic Tale: The Spider Lily General in Tokachi Range. Find four keys during the mission to open the gate, defeat the Spider Lily General, then head up the hill to claim the armor and complete the tale. -
Dragonfly Armor
Reward from the Side Tale: The Dragonfly Armor in Tokachi Range. Save Daijiro, then talk to him at Hiranui’s Rest Inn to wrap the quest and receive the armor. -
Armor of the Undying
You can grab this fairly early. Progress the Main Tale: The Oni, then start the Mythic Tale: The Undying Samurai by visiting Ugetsu the Storyteller in Ishikari Plain. Place the wind chimes when prompted, duel the Undying Samurai, and the armor is yours. -
Robes for Sitturaynu
Comes from the Side Tale: The Heart of an Ainu in Nayoro Wilds. The quest is mostly following and exploring "huci" (that’s the in-quest term the game uses), so it’s low stress. Finish the tale and the robes auto-unlock. -
Crimson Kimono
Found in the Mythic Tale: The Crimson Kimono in Teshio Ridge. By the end, you’ll reach the mother’s grave. Next to it is a rock pile with a chest tucked underneath. Open it to claim the armor. -
Ginji’s Guard Armor
Located during the Sensei Tale: Pride Before Tea on the Oshima Coast. You’ll free Ginji from an attic. In that same attic, check a circular basket in the corner for the armor. -
Fundoshi Armor
Yes, the Fundoshi is back. Unlock it by soaking in every Hot Spring in Ezo. There are 16 total across the map; visit them all and the Fundoshi is yours.
One more outfit note: the Snake Armor is a bonus set that’s exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition. No other way to get it.
If you’re planning your run: Ghost of Yotei is a Sucker Punch Productions joint, launching October 2, 2025, on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro.
