George Clooney is swapping red carpets for the school run, saying he’s now a carpool dad to his twins as he gears up for Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly.

File this under stars-they are just like us: George Clooney is now the guy in the school drop-off lane, steering a van and juggling playlists. Yes, that George Clooney.

The carpool confession

While talking up Noah Baumbach's new movie 'Jay Kelly' at the New York Film Festival, Clooney was asked by Entertainment Tonight if he is officially a carpool dad. He did not dodge.

'I am. I drive a van.'

He also painted a very specific picture of dad life: six kids belting out songs from 'Hamilton' in the back. As he put it, some of those lyrics hit a little weird when they are coming from eight-year-olds. The visual writes itself.

Work-life shift, on purpose

Clooney says being a dad has changed the way he schedules his career. He is working less, and he sounds pretty thrilled about it. He talked about enjoying life, enjoying time with his family, and actually liking the daily stuff - like driving the kids to school - which, honestly, is not the Hollywood answer you usually get.

He has been consistent on this. Back in 2024, during the press run for 'Wolfs' with Brad Pitt, he told GQ he was carving out time with his kids, loves the school run, and he and Amal were having a great time - and he did not want to lose that. Not exactly breaking news if you follow Clooney, but it is rare to see someone at his level stick to the plan.

Quick family refresher

Clooney married human rights lawyer Amal Clooney in 2014. They have twins, Ella and Alexander. He keeps them out of the spotlight as much as possible, but he is not shy about mentioning them when the topic comes up - like, say, when half a van is doing the 'Hamilton' chorus at full volume.

About 'Jay Kelly'

Clooney is set to appear in Baumbach's 'Jay Kelly.' If you are plotting your watch, here is the rollout:

  • Limited theatrical release: November 14, 2025
  • Netflix release: December 5, 2025

In the meantime, yes, the man who once sold espresso and played Danny Ocean is now timing school runs. The 'Hamilton' lyric note is the most dad thing he has ever said, and, honestly, fair.
