George Clooney Just Crowned Himself the Best Version of This Superhero
George Clooney leans into his caped past, saying in a new IMDb clip that Batman & Robin is the credit he should be known for — and crowning himself the best Batman.
George Clooney is still having a little fun with the role he gets roasted for the most. In a new video, he leans into the joke and then immediately undercuts himself, which is kind of his favorite bit.
What he said
In a quick IMDb video where he was asked which credit he should be best known for, Clooney deadpanned that it should be his turn in 'Batman & Robin' — and then pushed it one step further.
'Well, I think it's Batman & Robin, don't you?... I was the best Batman.'
He made it clear he was kidding. He even said he pulls that line a lot just to watch people panic and think, Wait, how can you say that?
The long-running Clooney vs. Clooney saga
Clooney has never pretended that 'Batman & Robin' was secretly misunderstood. Over the years, he has repeatedly taken himself to task over it and, by doing that, given himself cover to critique the movie around him too. He told GQ that when he calls the film terrible, he starts by saying he was terrible in it — partly because, in his words, that was true — and then he can add that plenty of other things didn't work either. As a shorthand, he pointed to those groaners like 'Freeze, Freeze!'
And yes, he put the cowl back on (briefly)
Despite the self-dragging, Clooney did pop back up as Bruce Wayne for a quick cameo in 2023's 'The Flash,' which starred Ezra Miller. A blink-and-you'll-miss-it button, but it happened.
What's next for Clooney
On the less icy-punny side of his career, Clooney's latest role is in Noah Baumbach's 'Jay Kelly,' which has already pulled widespread critical acclaim ahead of release. It's set to hit Netflix on December 5, 2025.
