Genshin Impact 6.2 Drops Durin Banner, Fan-Favorite Reruns, and Unmissable Events
Genshin Impact Version 6.2 Luna III drops December 3, 2025, after a reveal-packed Special Program that laid out the update, teasing new characters and more from HoYoverse’s latest livestream.
HoYoverse just pulled the sheet off Genshin Impact Version 6.2, aka Luna III, and yeah, it is a big one. New 5-star. New system that buffs a whole crew of Mondstadt favorites. Archon quest chapters that finally bring a couple long-teased names onscreen. And a winter event that drags us back into Dragonspine for cozy chaos. Here’s what’s actually coming and when.
Release timing and banners
Version 6.2 drops on December 3, 2025. As usual, the patch runs in two phases with Wish banners swapping in the middle.
- Dec 3–Dec 23 (Phase 1): 5-star Durin (Pyro, Sword) makes his debut; 5-star Venti (Anemo, Bow) returns; featured 4-star Jahoda (Anemo, Bow) debuts
- Dec 23–Jan 13 (Phase 2): 5-star reruns for Varesa (Electro, Catalyst) and Xilonen (Geo, Sword)
Durin, but make it human
Yes, that Durin. Once a dragon from Simulanka’s fairytale realm, Durin now shows up in a human body crafted by Albedo, because of course he does. He steps into the story in Nod Krai and comes with a stance-switching kit: one stance is support-focused with wide AoE Pyro, the other leans into heavy single-target damage with juiced-up Melt/Vape reactions. If you like flexible playstyles that pivot between team support and boss deletion, he’s built for that.
Story beats: two Archon chapters and a certain witchy duo
The overarching storyline keeps rolling under the Song of the Welkin Moon banner. Act V of the Archon Quest is titled "A Nocturne of the Far North" and digs into Moon-Prayer Night, the region’s big festival. This is also the first time we actually meet Alice and Nicole in-game — both are tied to the Hexenzirkel and have been dangled in lore for ages. Right after that, Act VI lands with "Melting Moonlight in the Morning Mist."
Durin also gets his own Story Quest: Draco Rubedo Chapter, Act I, which explores his new life, his Mondstadt and Hexenzirkel connections, and yes, completing it nets an alternate skin for him.
Events, minigames, and a new boss
The main event is "Soulblazers’ Snowbound Journey," which sends us back to Dragonspine for a stack of wintery minigames and rewards. The headliner prize is an event-exclusive 4-star bow called "Rainbow Serpent’s Rain Bow."
More activities are cycling in too: "Bing-Bang Finchball," "Heroic Clash: Saurian Brawl," and a return of "Marvelous Merchandise," all tossing out Primogems, materials, and other time-limited goodies.
On the combat side, there’s a new world boss: the Super-Heavy Landrover: Mechanized Fortress. You’ll find it in Nod Krai, and it drops Durin’s ascension materials.
Hexerei Rite: free buffs and a free character
One of the headline systems in 6.2 is the Hexerei Rite, which straight-up powers up certain Mondstadt-related characters who are part of this circle. Completing it unlocks:
- Buffed Talents and Constellations for select members
- New shared effects when you run two Hexerei members together in the same party
- A free character choice: Fischl, Sucrose, or Razor
The group covered here includes: Durin, Venti, Klee, Albedo, Mona, Sucrose, Fischl, and Razor. If you’ve invested in these units (or wanted a reason to), this system is basically a gift basket.
Small but useful: stream codes
The Special Program also handed out limited-time redemption codes worth 300 Primogems. If you caught them in time, nice; if not, keep an eye on the official channels during future streams — they go fast.
Quick takeaway
Between Durin’s long-teased arrival, two new Archon Quest acts, and that Hexerei Rite turning Mondstadt mains into mini monsters, Luna III is one of the chunkier updates this year. Toss in the Dragonspine event and a fresh boss, and December’s looking busy.
