Soap operas are notorious for their longevity. Few, however, are listed in the Guinness World Records.

General Hospital, which premiered in 1963, is still going strong with more than fifteen thousand episodes.

The show has seen many cast changes over the decades. There seems to be no storyline that hasn't been embraced by the plot. And it is still immensely loved by the audience. But there seems to be one issue that's been bothering fans for years.

It is no secret that soap operas are based on dramas, sometimes very far-fetched ones. So they are full of unlikable characters, tricksters, liars and cheats who create the drama that attracts so many people. However, some characters and their intrigues are too over the top even for the soap opera genre.

Brutally Honest Blue Bloods Fans Not Holding Back Their Disapproval of Baez

In the General Hospital universe, there's Carly Corinthos. She appeared on the show almost thirty years ago and is still an inseparable part of the storyline as she continues to excite the fans of the show with her actions that are not bound by any morals.

But there's another not-so-pleasant character, Nina Reeves, who constantly crosses Carly's path.

As much as they don't have sympathy for either character, General Hospital fans are calling out the showrunners for incessantly mixing Carly and Nina's storylines.

In fact, the two are very similar. So there's really no need for both of them in one storyline, since there's nothing one doesn't add to the show that the other could, fans believe. The combination of the characters feels so forced and unnatural that it turns viewers off.

"Unfortunately, the writer's seem to like to recycle the same story. Tit for tat over and over is getting kind of predictable and boring. I wish they would move on from this storyline for both of their character's sakes," wrote Reddit user NYCMamaBear.

Contrary to what you might think, soap opera fans aren't asking for less drama and conflict on General Hospital. They just don't want the eternal feud between the two vengeful characters shoved in their faces. Otherwise, the showrunners' mistake could become a real mistake and cost the show its decades-long popularity.
