General Hospital Fans Explode Over Who Shot Drew — Willow Or Sidwell?

Theories are flying, tempers are running high, and the debate is only getting louder.
General Hospital finally pulled the trigger. After weeks of painting a bullseye on Drew, the Sept. 2 episode ends with him getting shot. Now it is a full-blown whodunnit, and fans are split: is it Willow, Senator Sidwell, or someone else entirely? The show basically handed half the town a motive, so buckle up.
How the episode stacked the deck
The Sept. 2 hour methodically cleared a path to Drew getting taken out. By the time the gun went off, it felt like the writers had laid breadcrumbs on everyone in a five-mile radius. The big theories revolve around Willow and Sidwell, but plenty of other players looked shady and/or had cause.
The Willow theory
Willow suddenly reconnecting with Drew set off alarms the second it happened. It did not read romantic; it read strategic. The episode doubled down on that vibe at the hospital: after Drew left, Willow’s face was all deep distrust and actual nausea. That moment landed right after Chase told her the judge from her custody case was murdered. Not exactly hearts-and-flowers timing.
Then she rushed out of the hospital, which makes her timeline dicey if you are tracking who could be where when. Fans have gone full Zapruder on the shooter’s silhouette, and yes, we are at the hair-and-neck-measurement stage of this mystery.
"I think Willow did it — you could see in the shadow the person had a thin neck and short hair. Tracy has her hair short in front but actually her hair is long and you can see the hair length in the shadow."
Is that too inside baseball? Absolutely. Is it also exactly the kind of wild detail GH fans cling to between commercial breaks? Also yes.
The Sidwell angle
On the other side of the board, Senator Sidwell feels like the clean, political-thriller answer. Sonny notes the murdered judge’s body turned up on the docks across from Spoon Island, Sidwell’s home. Drew, inconveniently, had information that could tie Sidwell to bribery involving that very same judge. With the judge dead, Drew starts looking like the last loose end that could dent Sidwell’s career.
That is where Colette enters the chat. A popular fan theory has Colette doing the actual shooting, no hesitation, as Sidwell’s fixer. And yes, there is a whole pocket of viewers now loudly wondering if it is time for 'Sidewell' — typo and all — to go.
Everyone else who might have done it
This is a soap, so of course the suspect list is absurdly long. The episode made sure of it:
- Willow: sudden reunion, that queasy side-eye after learning the custody judge was murdered, plus a quick exit from the hospital that makes her timeline suspicious.
- Senator Sidwell: potential bribery tied to the same judge; body found on docks across from Spoon Island, where he lives; Drew as a dangerous loose end; Colette rumored as his no-questions-asked trigger puller.
- Nina and Portia: were literally discussing taking out Drew.
- Carly: flat-out threatened to kill Drew, and did it in front of Liz.
- Trina and Kai: were hiding in Drew’s house during the shooting, trying to crack his safe for blackmail evidence. Maybe not shooters, but timing that awkward is never a good look.
So what do we actually know?
On-screen, the show set the trap, fired the shot, and did not reveal the shooter. Willow acting nauseous rather than lovestruck right after the judge-murder news is not nothing. Sidwell’s geographic proximity and the bribery angle lock in a clear motive. And elsewhere, multiple characters were either threatening Drew, actively plotting against him, or literally on his property when the bullets started flying.
In other words: GH built a classic soap maze, and there are about six exits that all make sense. If you are analyzing shadows and neck widths, you are not alone. The whodunnit is officially on.
