Team Spencer or Team Kai? General Hospital fans are split over Trina Robinson’s heart—should she hold out for Spencer, who vanished after falling into the Seine, or dive into fresh chemistry with Kai? Introduced in 2017 and now portrayed by Tabyana Ali, Trina’s next move has Port Charles on edge.

General Hospital fans are having a very soap-y dilemma: should Trina Robinson end up with Spencer or stick with Kai? It is a simple question with very messy context, which is exactly why this debate is everywhere right now.

Quick refresher on Trina/Kai/Spencer

Trina has been around since 2017 and is currently played by Tabyana Ali. Her first big romance was with Spencer Cassadine, and yeah, they were the kind of couple that make a nickname happen: Sprina. That momentum crashed (literally) when Spencer went overboard into the Seine and was never found. After that not-quite-a-goodbye, Trina started getting closer to Kai.

What fans are saying

  • Team Spencer is the loudest: people keep pointing to the chemistry and that bond you do not fake. The vibe is basically: Trina truly loved Spencer, and no one else hits like that.
  • There is also the classic soap math at work: Kai might be more educated and stable, but Spencer is deliciously messy, which tends to make better TV. One fan even boiled it down to cool factor, calling Spencer cooler than Kai.
  • Sprina loyalists are openly hoping for a comeback. Think: lots of bring him back and he is so romantic energy.
  • Team Kai is smaller, but not nonexistent. A few folks do not think either guy is the answer for Trina right now.

Where Spencer actually is (actor-wise)

In 2024, Nicholas Alexander Chavez confirmed he exited General Hospital. On X (formerly Twitter), he thanked the show and said the gig opened a lot of doors for him professionally. He also made it clear that, as of now, he is not returning.

'While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles.'

That last line came after he shouted out executive producer Frank Valentini as both a mentor and a friend, and said they have had some pretty extensive conversations about his future on the show. Translation: the door is not closed, but nobody is scheduling a comeback.

So... who should Trina be with?

If you ask the fans, Spencer by a lot. The case for Kai is the stable option; the case for Spencer is the swoony, chaotic one that soaps are built on. And because Spencer is MIA with a body that was never found, the story stays in that classic soap limbo where anything can happen.

Until Nicholas Alexander Chavez actually steps back in (or officially moves on forever), the audience is basically choosing between steady-and-sensible and Sprina-or-bust. Based on the chatter, Sprina still wins the room.
