Gen V Season 2 Bombshell: Andre’s Huge Arc Planned Before Chance Perdomo’s Death

Gen V Season 2 is here, and it did not arrive the way anyone expected. The Boys spin-off hit Prime Video on September 17, 2025, with returning faces like Jaz Sinclair, Maddie Phillips, Lizze Broadway, Derek Luh, and Sean Patrick Thomas. But behind the scenes, the show had to completely reroute one of its core storylines after Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson, died in March 2024. Showrunner Michele Fazekas has been open about what changed and why.

They refused to recast Andre

Fazekas says the writers had a big plan for Andre going into Season 2, but the team decided early on that swapping in a new actor was not an option. And it wasn’t just her call — everyone aligned, from the show to the studio to the network.

"We knew right out of the gate, we’re not just gonna recast him, and literally no one was saying recast. Studio, network, and everybody was kind of like, 'No, of course not.'"

Five episodes tossed, and a very real grief

Here’s the inside baseball part that rarely gets said out loud: the writers had already written about five episodes of Andre’s arc. After Perdomo’s death, they scrapped all of it. Full stop. Fazekas described the process as grieving both the person and, strangely, the character — because after living with a story that long, the fictional version becomes something you care about too. The team’s goal from there was simple: honor Chance. She called the loss unimaginable and treated the rewrite as a responsibility, not just a patch job.

How Andre stays present in Season 2

In July, talking to EW, Fazekas said you will feel Andre — and Chance — throughout the season. The show threads him into the narrative in a way that keeps his presence felt, and she’s proud of how they did it. It’s not a stunt. It’s a tribute.
