Gearbox Unveils Borderlands 4's First DLC Vault Hunter — Early 2026 Launch Brings New Story Expansions

Enter C4SH, a loot-obsessed wildcard whose name screams cash and all but spells Borderlands 4.
Gearbox just pulled back the curtain on Borderlands 4's first post-launch Vault Hunter, and he is a vibe. His name is C4SH, and the look is basically desperado meets Grim Reaper, with a gambling streak to match. He debuted at Tokyo Game Show 2025 and he is headlining the game's first story pack, "Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned," which is set for early next year.
Meet C4SH
C4SH leans hard into luck and risk. Gearbox is positioning him as the first of two new Vault Hunters coming to Borderlands 4, so he's not a one-and-done add-on — he is part of a bigger post-launch plan.
"A roll of the dice, a flip of a card, a spin of the bullets in a chamber — these are among the random chances that fascinate C4SH, the first of two new Vault Hunters coming to Borderlands 4."
There is a teaser out now if you want a taste. As for dollars and cents: no standalone price yet, but the pack is included with the Super Deluxe Edition.
What you get in "Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned"
- Release window: early next year
- Multiple new main and side missions
- A new zone on Kairos
- The playable Vault Hunter C4SH
- New gear to chase
- A batch of fresh cosmetics
- Part of the broader Post-Launch Roadmap
- Included in the Super Deluxe Edition; standalone pricing TBA
- Teaser trailer is live now
Dev chatter and timing
Borderlands 4 creative director Graeme Timmins hopped on social to say he loves C4SH's kit and is eager to show more, which reads like we will get a deeper dive soon rather than much later.
Meanwhile: buffs galore and some hiccups
On the live game side, Gearbox says it has "too many Vault Hunter buffs" in the pipeline and is aiming to push another update in the coming week. If you have noticed the game wobbling a bit after the recent patch, you are not alone. The studio acknowledged "reduced stability" for some players and says stuttering should clear up over time — the advice is basically to let it run for about 15 minutes and see if it smooths out. Not the patch note anyone hopes for, but at least they are flagging it.
Bottom line: C4SH is the first of two new Vault Hunters, "Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned" lands early next year, and Gearbox is juggling buffs and stability fixes in the meantime. More details soon.
