To tide everyone over, TOHO Animation just dropped a fresh trailer and a second Season 2 visual, plus a tease of the new ending theme. milet is back on ED duty, same as Season 1, and the song is previewed in the trailer.
Where Season 1 left off, and where we pick up
Season 1 wrapped by finishing the entire First-Class Mage Exam arc. Coming out of that, Fern is officially a First Class Mage, which means Frieren, Fern, and Stark can get back to the mission that matters: heading for Aureole at the northern end of the continent. The route takes them across the Northern Plateau, where they will run into new faces and, of course, new monsters.
How far Season 2 is expected to go
Season 1 covered 60 chapters of the manga. If Season 2 keeps that pace, it could run through around chapter 120. That lines up with a pretty clean arc order and a logical stopping point before the next big stretch kicks off.

The trailer, in a nutshell
It leans into exactly what makes Frieren work: slow, reflective travel punctuated by sharp danger. Lots of calm detours, meals on the road, pretty sunsets, and helping whoever needs it. Then it shifts gears and flashes the bigger fights waiting up north, with nastier demons lurking in the shadows than the crew has dealt with before. Himmel also makes an appearance, and it looks like he is set to become a key piece of the story again, especially during the Goddess's Monument stretch.
