Fortnite OG Butterfly Event Countdown: Start Time, Live Stream, Map Changes, Rewards, and How to Watch
Fortnite goes full nostalgia today as Epic Games resurrects the Chapter 1 Butterfly Event for a live spectacle in OG Chapter 1 Season 6—signaling a sprint into the mode’s final seasons and a cascade of fresh twists and in-game shake-ups.
Epic is rolling the clock back again. Fortnite OG is racing through the late Chapter 1 eras, and today it is dusting off one of the game’s most memorable moments: the Butterfly Event, with some new twists for Chapter 1 Season 6.
When and where this is happening (and how to actually see it)
- Start time: Today, November 8, at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET.
- Playlist: OG Battle Royale and OG Zero Build lobbies. Queue into either to take part.
- Where to go: Loot Lake. There’s a giant cube parked by the lake already, teasing what’s coming.
- Show up early: Servers will be slammed. Load in a bit ahead of time so you’re not stuck in queue.
- Safety note: Epic usually creates a no-fighting zone around live events, but griefers exist. Grab a little loot just in case while you wait.
- How long it lasts: Expect roughly 10–20 minutes based on past events.
What the Butterfly Event is (and what’s different this time)
If you were around for the original Chapter 1 Butterfly Event, you remember the drill: the cube at Loot Lake went kaboom, everyone got yanked into a trippy rift space, a giant blue butterfly appeared, and then the island came back with changes centered on the lake.
For Fortnite OG’s version, that same skeleton is back with some fresh details layered on. Leaks circulating from HoloFNBR on X point to the cube coming back red instead of purple, the return of that rift dimension sequence, and then a transport back to the island with new map changes tied to the Red Cube’s corruption. The foundation is the same, but it won’t be a carbon copy — expect a few new beats and surprises.
Tips before you drop
Hop into an OG lobby early, head to Loot Lake, and hang near the cube. Even if combat gets disabled around the event bubble, having a couple items in your pocket never hurts. Once it wraps, you should be able to jump straight into the newly corrupted OG map.
Why now?
Fortnite OG is burning through the tail end of Chapter 1 at high speed, and Epic’s been sprinkling in map tweaks and mini-events along the way. This is one of the big ones — a nostalgia hit with a few new wrinkles.
Quick refresher on Fortnite itself
Fortnite is Epic Games’ ever-evolving shooter/sandbox hybrid, originally launched July 21, 2017. You can play on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, Android, and iOS. If you’re on any of those, you’re set for today’s show.
See you at Loot Lake. If a giant red cube starts humming, you’re in the right spot.
