Fire Country Season 4 drops a gut punch: the new trailer confirms Vince didn’t survive last season’s catastrophic collapse, leaving his family and Station 42 reeling.

Well, CBS finally made it official. The Fire Country Season 4 trailer is here, and it confirms the show did the thing fans were dreading: a major character did not make it out of last season’s finale. The new footage is all about the fallout — for the Leones and for Station 42 — and it looks rough.

The big reveal: Vince is gone

The trailer confirms that Vince Leone — the battalion chief played by Billy Burke — died in the fire that leveled a memory care facility at the end of Season 3. If you remember, Vince was trapped inside as the building collapsed with his wife, Division Chief Sharon Leone, and his father, retired chief Walter Leone. Sharon and Walter survive. Vince does not.

Funeral, friction, and a station on ice

The clip opens at Vince’s funeral, where Bode (Max Thieriot) steps up to honor his dad. It’s the gut-punch the show has been building toward, and it sets the tone for everything that follows.

"I’m going to spend the rest of my career protecting my father’s town, my father’s station, and my father’s mission."

From there, you can see the strain hitting Station 42 from every angle. Bode clashes with Captain Jake Crawford, who benches him — and, yes, the question of who takes over Vince’s battalion chief job becomes instant drama fuel. Meanwhile, Sharon is clearly carrying the weight of the loss; at one point she announces the entire station is suspended from active duty. Not subtle, but effective.

New face, familiar faces, and one quick goodbye

The trailer also drops a few character updates and a new addition — some of it a little inside baseball, so here’s the quick version:

  • Vince Leone (Billy Burke): Confirmed dead after the memory care facility collapse.
  • Sharon Leone: Survives, grieving, and takes Station 42 offline.
  • Walter Leone: Survives the collapse.
  • Bode Leone (Max Thieriot): Eulogizes his father, gets benched, but is determined to carry Vince’s mission.
  • Captain Jake Crawford: Benches Bode; central to the who-becomes-battalion-chief debate.
  • Shawn Hatosy: Joins the show as someone brought in to help the firefighters cope in the aftermath of losing their chief.
  • Audrey: Last seen being taken into custody; now back with the team.
  • Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila): Shares an emotional moment with Bode, but Arcila exits the series after the Season 4 premiere.
