FaZe Clan Shutdown Rumors Debunked: What’s Real and What’s Hype
No one had this on their bingo card: after weeks of whispers, esports powerhouse FaZe Clan is shutting down, as members Adapt, Lacy, Jasontheween and others signal the end of an era.
Well, this was not on my 2025 card: multiple FaZe Clan creators just nuked their ties with the org on Christmas, and the fallout looks messy. Rumors of a shutdown have been floating around for a couple weeks. Now we have a very loud, very public exodus to match them.
So... did FaZe Clan just implode?
On December 25, several recognizable FaZe faces posted the same line on X: 'Left @FaZeClan.' That wave of exits is being tied to a leadership shake-up. The chatter goes like this: FaZe Banks sold off a big chunk of ownership, new bosses came in, and the creators were suddenly looking at a 20% bite out of their earnings. One X post even framed it as the new leadership pushing for a 20% cut of creator revenue. Other talk calls it a 20% salary reduction. Either way, it was about money and control, and it was enough to make people walk.
To be clear: none of that has been officially confirmed by FaZe or Banks yet. But that is the storyline being passed around publicly, including in a December 25 post from KickChamp, and it lines up with the timing of the departures.
Who actually left?

- Lacy
- Silky

- StableRonaldo
How we got here (as cleanly as I can explain it)
Two days before the Christmas walkout, a clip shared by rs29 (@Rt678ut) showed Lacy talking on stream about his mental health taking a hit. Then on December 25, the creators drop identical 'Left @FaZeClan' posts. Around the same time, posts on X claim FaZe CEO Banks sold a controlling stake, handing the keys to new leadership that wanted a deeper slice of creator money. Again: we do not have a formal press release laying all this out, but that is the picture being painted publicly.
The FaZe House situation
It is being reported that the crew moved out of the fancy FaZe House on Christmas. A real estate listing shared by @terrion_terror shows the property up for rent for about $75,000 a month starting January 15, 2026. If you ever wanted to pay luxury-hotel prices to live in a content mansion, there you go.
Valkyrae thinks a new group is coming
Rachell 'Valkyrae' Hofstetter chimed in with her own theory, in a clip posted December 26 by veizau: she believes Nick, Lacy, StableRonaldo, Silky, and Adapt could spin up a new group after leaving. Her overall read is that the org had too much control over creators' content and business, which pushed people out.
'Sometimes it is better to not be in a group.'
Whether that lineup actually forms something new is still speculation, but the idea has momentum in the community right now.
Where this actually lands
Short term: this is a jarring end to a very specific era of FaZe, with core creators gone and the house effectively turning into a luxury rental. Long term: we are waiting on a real explanation from the people involved. Until then, all we have are public posts, rumored deal terms, and a lot of smoke around who controls what and who gets paid what.
When the former members speak up with details, we will finally know if the 20% part was a pay cut, a revenue cut, or something else entirely. Right now, it is all blurry. But if Valkyrae is right, the next chapter might not be a farewell — just a rebrand with new management, on their own terms.
