Paramount+ hit Yellowjackets will land its final sting with season 4, ending the psychological thriller from creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson just five months after renewal, with production eyed for 2026.

Yellowjackets is landing the plane. The hit psychological thriller is ending with Season 4 — which is a bit of a twist, considering it was only renewed five months ago. And one more curveball: the creative team is eyeing a 2026 start for production. Translation: it may be a minute before we see the finale play out.

Season 4 will be the end

Creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson announced that the fourth season will wrap up the story. They framed it as a creative decision rather than a cancellation — the kind where the story tells you it is time to stop. They also made a point to thank pretty much everyone who has touched the show, plus the fans (aka the Hive) who have been picking apart every symbol and snack since day one.

"After three incredible seasons... we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season."

In their note, they called the journey emotional, wild, and deeply human, shouted out the cast, crew, and writers, and slipped in a very on-brand nod to the Hive with a promise the final chapter will be, well, delicious.

When will it shoot?

The team is currently targeting a 2026 production start for Season 4. No premiere window yet, so manage expectations accordingly.

The bigger picture

The series streams on Paramount+ and comes from Lionsgate Television. It was created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who also executive produce; Jonathan Lisco serves as showrunner alongside them. Since premiering in 2021, Yellowjackets has stayed Certified Fresh across all three seasons, which is not easy for a mystery box show that loves to feed you crumbs and watch you spiral.

So yes, bittersweet news, but ending on your own terms usually beats wandering off into the woods. Now we wait to see what kind of final feast they have planned.
