In a candid Collider chat, Stranger Things stars Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin swapped stories of bizarre fan encounters — but Wolfhard’s jaw-dropping autograph-table moment steals the spotlight.

Stranger Things press tours are always good for a curveball, and the latest round delivered. The kids-now-grown-ups hit Collider to talk weird fan run-ins and favorite movies, then hopped over to a BuzzFeed Kitten Interview to reminisce and quietly reveal what they took home from set. There is, of course, a water bottle story. Buckle up.

Finn Wolfhard vs. the half-finished water

Asked about bizarre fan encounters, Finn Wolfhard pulled out a doozy from his early days: a record store signing where a teenage fan showed up with what felt like her entire extended family. He said the mom seemed more hyped about the autograph than the actual kid, which already sets a vibe. Then came the request.

'Can I have the water?'
'No, I am still drinking it.'

According to Wolfhard, the girl — around 15 at the time — wanted his half-drunk bottle. When he declined (because, again, it was mid-sip), the family got salty and allegedly started calling him a jerk for not handing it over. As far as odd fan asks go, this is more awkward than dangerous, but you can see why it stuck with him. Honestly, saying no to a stranger drinking your backwash is baseline life hygiene. He handled it fine.

So what are their favorite movies, anyway?

In the same Collider chat, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin were surprisingly unanimous on one thing: Steven Spielberg. All four crowned 'Jaws' as the top Spielberg pick.

On the Christopher Nolan front, they split:

Sadie Sink initially went with 'Interstellar' but later pivoted to 'The Dark Knight Rises.' Gaten Matarazzo shouted out 'Dunkirk.' Finn Wolfhard is also team 'The Dark Knight Rises.' And Caleb McLaughlin said he saw 'Interstellar' for the first time this year and it blew him away. Not exactly controversial takes, but fun to see where their heads are at.

What they actually took from set

Over at BuzzFeed’s kitten chaos, a much bigger group — Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, and Joe Keery — looked back on a decade of filming and copped to what they walked away with. Spoiler: not much stealth was needed; a lot of it was given to them.

  • Sadie Sink kept Max’s Walkman.
  • Finn Wolfhard got to keep his bike.
  • Noah Schnapp snagged the Castle Byers sign.
  • Charlie Heaton took a few show knick-knacks for his mum.
  • Millie Bobby Brown held onto a bunch of Eleven’s wardrobe.
  • Gaten Matarazzo didn’t have to steal anything — he was gifted his compass.

They also got a little nostalgic, swapping memories from the past ten years of making the show. Which, yeah, ten years. Feeling old yet?

Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1 hits Netflix on November 26. How are we feeling about Hawkins one last time?
