Fallout is vaulting ahead: before Season 2 even drops, executive producer Jonathan Nolan says Season 3 is on the fast track with filming plans advancing, teasing an even bigger swing after a 100-million-viewer debut.

Fallout isn't slowing down. Season 2 hasn't even hit yet, and Jonathan Nolan is already talking about when Season 3 will roll cameras. Amazon clearly liked the numbers it saw last time and wants to keep the machine moving.

Season 3: So when do they film?

Executive producer Jonathan Nolan told IGN the team's aiming to get back on set next summer. Given Season 2 arrives this December, that points to summer 2026 for the Season 3 shoot if everything lines up.

"With regard to production, we are hoping to be shooting again next summer. We will see if that all comes together. Best laid plans and all. But we are excited that the scope of the show feels undiminished season to season. We are able to work quickly enough to get back on the air in a reasonable amount of time."

Translation: they want to avoid the now-common multi-year gap between seasons without shrinking the show. Nolan also called those extra-long breaks an unfortunate trend and made it clear the goal is to be back on the air as soon as possible.

Why the quick turnaround?

Season 1 was a monster hit for Prime Video, pulling in over 100 million viewers and snagging Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. Amazon has already officially renewed the series for Season 3, and the creative team sounds eager to keep the momentum going.

Meanwhile, Season 2 lands this year

Season 2 premieres December 17, 2025, and takes Lucy (Ella Purnell), the Ghoul (Walton Goggins), and Maximus (Aaron Moten) to the neon-soaked ruins of New Vegas. Yes, that New Vegas.

  • Ella Purnell returns as Lucy
  • Walton Goggins returns as the Ghoul
  • Aaron Moten returns as Maximus
  • Kyle MacLachlan returns
  • Moisés Arias returns
  • Frances Turner returns
  • Justin Theroux joins as Mr. House, the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas

So here's the plan as of now: Season 2 this December, then a push to start filming Season 3 the following summer. If they hit that timeline, we might actually get a speedy turnaround without the show losing any of its scale. Which, honestly, would be a relief.
