Ezra Miller Is Almost Unrecognizable in New Photos from Italy

Ezra Miller just made their first public appearance in years — and fans are still adjusting.
The Flash star showed up at the Filming Italy event on June 19, held at the Forte Village Resort in Santa Margherita di Pula. Miller, 32, posed for photos with actress Milla-Alexia Gojkovic and was also seen with event organizer Tiziana Rocca. This is one of their first red carpet-type appearances since their extended absence from public life — and judging by the photos, they look noticeably different.
But the real headline wasn't just the appearance — it was the interview. In a sit-down with Italian press, Miller addressed their years-long controversy for the first time, referring to it as a personal "crucible."
"When we go through those crucibles, if we can survive — which was up in the air for me, if I'm being real — we then have that capacity to see other people in their crucibles and just to reach towards them. I think that grows more and more rarefied in our world too."
They also didn't mince words about the people in their orbit during that time.
"When you work in this industry, you'll find yourself in deep, deep relation with a lot of people who do not give a single f—k about you, or your well-being, at all. And so, not that I don't hold a lot of remorse and lamentation for a lot of things that I did and a lot of things that happened in that time, but I'm really, really grateful for the lessons that came with that abyss."
Miller's use of "abyss" is no exaggeration. Between 2022 and 2023, they were arrested multiple times and involved in a series of troubling incidents:
- A disorderly conduct charge in Hawaii after a karaoke bar altercation
- Allegations of harassment in Germany
- A felony burglary charge in Vermont
- A controversial situation in which they allegedly hosted a mother and her three children in an "unsafe environment"
- And a long-running accusation of an inappropriate relationship with a young person they reportedly met at age 12
The harassment order tied to the last allegation was lifted in June 2023, and Miller has stayed out of the spotlight since — skipping press for The Flash and largely disappearing from industry events.
They were quietly spotted at Cannes last month (no photos were published), but the Italy appearance marks the first time in years that Miller's spoken publicly, posed for press, and offered anything resembling a direct comment on the controversies that nearly ended their career.
Where things go from here is unclear — but after all the headlines, legal issues, and behind-the-scenes fallout, Ezra Miller has officially reentered the conversation.
